I pass through there allot, I'm hauling oversize loads now and I make a $1.00 a miles as a company driver. you'll see me out there with huge tires laying flat on my trailer. I run from Topeka, ks to tumbler ridge, BC and once in a while I go to Fairbanks, AK. look forward to seeing you out there somewhere.

Hauling one RV at a time with a PU is a losing proposition. You can make more $$ as a company OTR driver with zero investment. I see the ads on Kijiji for Rv hauling and they pay about $1.50 a mile ONE WAY. Why would anyone do that?? But lately I see a lot of guys with MD or HD trucks and a flatbed trailer. OR a flatbed truck with one trailer on board and another behind. That might be profitable as you get double the income and there is a chance of a reload for the return. The guys with PU's are just wasting$$$ .

You are entitled to your opinion. However, I really doubt you have spent the time to crank all of the numbers and information on it.
I can wonder why someone would be a company driver as well.
If it is such a losing proposition, you might want to wonder why so many are doing it and making a good living at it. I turn better numbers than most of my friends who drive company trucks.LGarrison, truckon and bahamajohn98 Thank this. -
Roadmedic: Do you use a flatbed and get a back haul? I cannot see how one can make any money with only being paid for loaded miles ( one way). I would bet that most of the haulers that are retired RV'rs do NOT have a trailer. They are using their RV PU, wearing it out and chasing penny's instead of dollars. Do you log miles for IFTA? Is there any kind of fuel surcharge paid to the driver? I have done the math for a PU pulling RV's without a flatdeck and the pay is a joke. A Walmart greeter makes more $$. Enlighten me with some statistics. I drive part time for an O/O and get 46 cents a mile, $35 for picks and drops, $120 for layovers , 2% vacation pay and paid holidays. There is also a great medical plan! I get paid hub miles. I doubt anyone pulling single trailers can make half that amount.

RM does single pulls with a pickup.... just because you can't see or have failed making money pulling RVs doesn't mean someone else can't be successful at it.
bahamajohn98 and Roadmedic Thank this. -
I'm wondering if you have tried it?

If he indeed is doing single pulls I want to know how he makes money. $1.50 a mile. 1000 mile run each way, approx. 12 mpg loaded and 18 empty equals 140 gallons @ $3.60 per equals approx. $500 just for fuel( more in today's world). add depreciation ,insurance, maintenance and repairs(what about tolls?). What is left for a 4 day trip? I want to see the math. If you run hard a $35,000 ( or more ) PU becomes almost worthless in 4 years. I did not factor any washing of units as well as PU fees at the yard. There are some tax perks that helps.
