depends on your skill level, tools availble, what kind of truck its in, etc. worst case you have to pull the radiator, fan, shroud, etc to access it.
-
Its in a W900. Not sure if I want to do it myself or just take it to a shop and say call me when its done.
-
depends on how comfortable you are with wrenching on your rig and tool availbility you have. at the least on your w9 you will have to pull the rad supports loose, take the fan shroud, fan blade, belts, balancer out of the way then change the seal, and it will be a little tight but plenty of room to work.
-
Are there any special tools required to do this? Like a puller for the balancer, and how does the seal come out? I am familiar with doing this on an old Ford or Chevy engine, is it basically the same thing only on a much larger scale?

Oscar the KW Thanks this.

I did front seal on my w900l.easy job the only thing is the seal installer cost around 150

The job should take no more than one hour. You will need a special wear ring removal kit and the installer which installs the wear ring and seal at the same time to the right depth. Probably better for a cat dealer. You can groove up the crank if you don't know what you are doing when removing the wear ring.
