What sort of equipment one needs? Any extra assembly like PTO and how to start the process and where to start. Money is good. Sounds interesting.

nope can't do a thing for you. :) you want work take a trip out west and start dropping in on various companies. Me personally I don't have any connections with companies that hires O/O. any of the Frac companies hire O/O to haul sand, and vessels. Cal-Frac, SanGel, Canyon, BakerHughes, most of them also haul bulk cement to oil wells. both sand and cement PTO would be a must have. Might be turning a blower, plus Hyd for box lift. Not saying it couldn't be done, but not many Volvos in the patch, generally poor ground clearance. Other than that a major must have is skill/knowledge driving off-road. anything over a year or so of OTR is excessive. You can pick it up as you go if you show common sense, and remember that there is way more to it out here than being able to keep it between the lines and shift on flat ground. in the patch most of our flat ground is stood up on 1 end, and is accessed by a goat trail made of foot deep mud or ice that is narrow enough to be 1 way and up to 10-15% grade. it'll make you pucker up. Once you get used to it though, OTR is so boring you can't stand it.

Hey Jamesg I am in red deer with Sanjel still, up from kamloops for the last couple of years and just over 42 myself. I see the IES and Canadian guys on lease a lot and you're right, it's hours spent in the truck. Wage seems pretty good for a lot of sitting. Need another Swamper?

Hey Onetrack, you bet we do, down 2 swampers right now and getting into winter soon. Were you on that bonavista job yesterday, ugh that was a 30 hour job for me... Got to edson at 5, just woke up and gonna book for sylvan... That's not usual though, we usually have relief, just spread a bit thin this week and with a good swamper you can trade off sleep and dropping balls.

No not me, I drove up to kamloops on my days off starting Wednesday - my father in law had a minor heart attack and I took him to emergency around 9pm to RIH, stayed with him while he was getting a battery of tests til about 1:30am, he's still in there, in his own room finally but scheduled to be taken to kelowna for an angiogram on Tuesday, what a place to spend a long weekend, especially with family.

PM me the company? I have a guy in mind if I don't do it myself.
