I've been lurking on these boards for a while now, I thought I'd join. I'm currently a Corporate Transportation Manager for a Fortune 500 company. This is of course the reason for my username. I'm hoping to gain better insight into what the drivers go through to haul freight. I'm open to any questions or suggestions.

Welcome to the Forum. I hope you enjoy your time here. Hopefully, you can help us and yourself at the same time. A lot of times, IMO, there wouldn't be so much conflict about issues if the pertinent information was passed along that would make sense to the Team. Best Wishes, and I hope that you learn and are able to instruct some here as well.

Hello to you too!
I have some questions, My son has been in the training phase for about 2 wks now, so far he and his trainer has lost food due to a faulty outlet in the truck, when the truck reaches 90 something degrees the air conditioner no longer works (has anyone heard of dehydratition / heat stroke), 2 of the gears are worn completely out, and the check engine light had come on. Now with all of that, when they came into the service area to get these things fixed all they were concerned about was fixing the check engine light! Now my concern is this why give a trainer and newbie a broken down truck to deliver fresh meat to businesses. when temps are 90 degrees plus. If you don't care about the men and women delivering your goods enough to at least make sure that the trucks they are driving in works properly, then why are you even in business at all. Lives are put in danger everyday so it doesn't make any sense to me that a company would knowingly gamble with their drivers lives as well as the profitt margin that drives their own companies..Even with all of this going on He still is loving it, I truly wonder when he will get fed up with it and start company hopping trying to find a company that protects it drivers as much as humanly possible...maybe after his first heat stroke??, what do You think !!! Just a MOM here......zbbrown60 -
P.S. And they're heading to Texas now of all places...zbbrown60

Seems like he's doing pretty good; he could be doing a lot worse than you describe.

Hello Chinatown - Yes he is doing great and loving it. This is the latest update as of tonight - They had to go to the carolina's before heading to Texas - they had to come down something the gourge where the mountain is one one side and nothing but air on the other side, and wouldn't you know it they had to use the gear that had a problem of poping out. well my son drove half of it and the trainer drove the last part after they made it down ( the gear poped out 14 times ) the trainer called corp. and let them have an ear full - well the truck is on blocks till Tuesday, and all will get fixed before they get into it again...Sometimes the right ear does get things done....Someone is def. looking out them...Right now all my son is happy about is the nice showers and air conditioned bedrooms...lol ... such little things for some and huge luxuries for others..alls well...zbbrown60
