It went pretty well. There were 3 of us, but one of my classmates was let go on the third day. Apparently a discrepancy on his application was discovered when he was entered into the payroll system. It sort of shocked me and my other classmate since we thought all the checks were done on everyone prior to starting orientation. Too bad, because he was a nice guy too and he had traveled about 700 miles from El Paso, TX to attend orientation. As small as my class was, I am surprised we didn't get sent to another DC too. I am glad we didn't, because I was able to meet and get to know a lot of folks at my DC.

Food wise, more than enough to eat and drink. The fresh coffee was flowing like I was sitting in a Dunkin Donuts! I think I gained 6 pounds this week, and believe me, I do not need it! I am sure the huge amount of donuts I inhaled over a 3 day period had a lot to do with it! I think I may have eaten a dozen a day! LOL! That is ok, I think the long walk touring the DC may have burned off at least a couple of donuts! :)

Mentor week will be fun. :)

I am changing my profile picture temporarily to reflect my Donut Monster nickname from orientation! :)

Let go on the third day of orientation because of a discrepancy on his application. Do you know what it was? That makes me nervous and a little paranoid! No reason to be, but that would be a tough situation. Especially if you are leaving a decent job to come to Walmart.

It was a Yes/No question on the application that was not truthfully answered. Because this particular circumstance with this question had not occurred before, the question on the application this pertains to will be verified on future applicants before sending them to orientation.

It has been mentioned quite a bit on this thread...... BE HONEST ON YOUR APPLICATION! If you are, there is nothing to fear. In case you make a mistake on your application, when called for your first interview, they will give you a printed copy of your application that you will sign. This will be the one and only opportunity to amend anything on your application without Walmart holding it against you. Once you review your application and sign it, any false statements remaining on your application will be revealed sooner or later. Walmart will find out the truth, so just tell the truth, since it is the easiest thing to remember!

Mornin. Consider us lucky Tom. I believe we are the only GM dcin our region that has a staff for the cafateria. Sanger has one but no staff. I was hoping to get back into Sealy so I could get some food but no luck. That's ok. I had stopped a store already and got a box of brownies to celebrate for my self on passing my 90 days with Wal~mart! Gonna get up and eat and get rolling. Happy Labor Day to all and enjoy your holiday when you can get to it. I deffered mine for another time.

Congrats Matt! Perfect timing too, right before the holiday! The same will happen to me as I will hit my 90 days 2 days before Thanksgiving!

I bet looking back to when you were in orientation getting hit with brain overload, it seems a whole lot easier now. I think when my 90 days rolls around, I will celebrate by getting a box of......wait for it...... donuts! LOL! :)

It means he has passed his 90 day probationary period. Your insurance starts on day 1, but you don't get the paid holidays until after your 90 days. If you are scheduled to work on that day, you have the option of taking the pay for it (which would be like double time since you are working), or deferring it as a paid day off. This is paid based on your ADP (average daily pay).

Congrats Matt !!! Next up, your 6-month "Employee Contact."

I always defer my holidays. This is how I currently have 4 paid days off available (3 holidays and 1 safety day. I used 2 safety days on my little vacation in July).
