Anyone else work another job while trucking?

I used to drive local during the day from 7-4, and delivered pizza in the evening for pocket money.

Interestingly enough, they had a guy at the pizza shop before me who was also a garbage truck driver during the day. Apparently he was going to be late one day because he was still on his route, and the pizza manager told him to be there or be fired.

Figuring he was fired either way, he evidently showed up in the garbage truck, complete with the helpers, parked on the side of the building, and made his first pizza delivery of the day in the truck. He was promptly fired.

 

First 5 yrs I drove truck, I also delivered pizza on the weekends.

I haul local Mon to Fri. I'll fix cars for cash on the side once in awhile or come winter time I plow the white fluffy stuff outside of work plowing for some extra beer money!

 

Yes.This is why i always say work smarter not harder..I have a Small Lawn Cutting business and i remodeled my whole house to gain Equity.I buy cheap homes and fix them up and sell them or rent them..As of now i am looking for another one to buy,fix up and sell...

I also play basketball and softball and have a life outside of trucking..

I for one will never put all my eggs in the trucking basket..I did that in my 1st year and i will never do it again.

 

If you drive a commercial vehicle and have another job on the side you must show your hours at your other job on your log book.
You are required to report all hours you are compensated for.
Chances are you are in violation of your hours of service.

I believe you that this is some type of ''law''...But i really need to see this one first hand...I need a good laugh..
