Ya, the schools may have apps or recruiters stop by, but do your own research! The best companies dont need to drop off apps at schools or send recruiters. Food for thought.

I am not too far from Winter Haven, Bobby. I do not have my CDL, and I do not want to pay to get it. Are you paying for your training at Ridge Tech, or did you get some form of grant or other assistance?

Hello World <--- Hey, that looks familiar ;)

You're lucky to live where you do. The Orlando area is the Southern most recruiting line for almost all the companies I've talked to. Have you tried CTL Transportation? They have a terminal in Mulberry, I believe. They offer CDL-A training in exchange for a promissary note and 1 year employment agreement. If you finish the year, you owe nothing. I'm told they will pro-rate the balance at 12% should you decide you hate them before you finish. Sounds good on paper. I'm pretty sure their work from that terminal is local haul from Mulberry to the Port of Tampa- which means even after a year, you wouldn't have OTR experience. Good luck!

Thanks Bob. I am single and can move anywhere, so even though I'll look into CTL, I really think the Tampa thing is going to limit me enough that I'll be better off moving first to a more convenient location.
