Recently my door handles have been becoming more and more difficult to open, and they stick in the open position, I even have to push the outside door handle back in. I've sprayed tons of lube where i can, it helps a little, but still sticky

Are these door handles a pain to replace? Do I need to replace them, or is there some other remedy?

Plastic what are you spraying them with? Sounds like you may need to replace the drivers, why don't you swap it with the passengers side? If no one uses the passengers door, If you are solo then you can get a few more miles out of them before you have to replace them.

I'm spraying them with wd-40, i wonder if that is causing them to gum up and make it worse...the passenger side door handle is almost worse to open. I'm pretty sure the door handles wont swap from right to left on this ole girl, I'm looking at replacing all three of em, two on the left side (drivers door and bunk door) and the passenger side door handle. Looks like i need to buy an door panel removal tool.

I was thinking of WD40 too. Might try pressure washing the locking mechanism then soaking with WD. Keep in mind that WD evaporates. It might be best to use Lithium grease.

I had the same issue with mine and WD40 took care of it.

Might want to try something like PB Blaster. It "walks" into crevises.

    TwinStickPeterbilt Thanks this.

Someone told me about the pb walking so I took a bolt and clamped it in my vise. Sprayed pb on the bottom of the bolts threads and let it sit overnight. When I checked it in the morning it had crawled up the bolt.

I thought that was kind of neat.

Shouldn't need any sort of special tooling to change them. They are not too hard to do. Door handles are not interchangeable side for side. Sometimes lube will free them up if caught early enough. If you do change them, either order them keyed to your current key or swap the key part. If you know what your doing, it is possible to grind the new lock to work with the old key.

Just fixed mine today. Drivers door was hard to open. Had to pull the latch and push on the door to get it to open. Was ok from the inside. I lubed it up good with Zep lubricant and it works fine now. I guess i will see how long that lasts.
