Well, if you're going to be hotshotting it, then you don't have a sleeper in your truck..... I am interested in driving a box truck with a sleeper berth, and with tandem tires. I know, I know..... I might as well go back to driving a semi then..... but I want the experience of driving a smaller big truck, if that makes sense. I want to be able to turn around easier, but experience the same old hum of otr life, that I miss more and more every day.

I see one of those that delivers hand made candy to some specialized stores around town. Always thought it comical to see a box truck with a sleeper.

Me too, to be honest. You don't see many though. I was shocked that I saw one last night after I got off of this thread.:biggrin_2554:

What you are looking for is rare, most of the expedited trucks I see are single axle, some with tags, unless you are talking refrigerated.

I think I would rather keep driving semi, even hauling chickens.

Refrigerated is bad enough with a trailer.

Ok, my husband and I drive a straight truck. It is a 2008 T660 Kenworth stretched out with a 24 ft box. We do not own the truck we drive for Expedite Services out of Ms. Our highest pay that we have made for a week together is if I remember about 2600.00. That is with us receiving 40% of the truck revenue and with Expedite Services recieving 60% plus the fuel surcharge. Expedite Services pays for all expenses, fuel, tolls, oil, fluids, ect. We pay only our occupational insurance at 216. per month for both of us. Our average seems to be between 1000.00 and 1800.00 per week together. (this is 40% of total revenue)

Our current truck gets 8.5 mile to a gallon. The average straight truck gets between 8 to 10 miles per gallon.

PantherII pays 1.35 per mile is you accept Canada loads, $1.20 if you are on a no Canada contract. You have the option of having a Canada contract or a no Canada Contract. No forced dispatch

Tri-State pays 1.20 per mile whether Canada contract or not. You have the option of a Canada or no Canada, you also have an option of NYC or no NYC but the mile rate is still 1.20 per mile. No forced dispatch

Express 1 pays 1.20 per mile, they do not go to Canada. No forced dispatch.

TryOurs pays 1.20 per mile. I do not know if they do or do not go to Canada. We have freinds that drive for them but have never asked about the Canada issue. They are no forced dispatch.

Our friend that drives for TryOurs bought a van for his wife from Ebay for 5000.00 she drives the van solo and clears around 800. per week after she pays for everything. He purchased a used truck. I don't remember what he said he clears but (he also is driving solo) but last I spoke with him before Christmas he was getting 3000 to 3600 miles with TryOurs.

I keep track of our truck revenue including the fuel surcharge and usually the surcharge covers all or most of the fuel cost.

The truck itself is exactly the same as the 18 wheeler tractor, only differnce is it has had the frame stretched and had a 24 ft box attached instead of carrying around the 50 ft box the 18 wheeler carries.

    Hope this helps you some.

    Scott Mac. Thanks this.

    Thanks Pardell.:biggrin_255:
Do you know of any companies that have a lease to own opportunity, and if I can park a 53' trailer, would I have any trouble with a 24' that has no bend to it?
    Does Expedite services hire solo?

lol, If you can park that monstrosity your driving you can park a straight truck. If I can park one anyone can do it. Don't remember if I told you our company name is actually Expediter services. As for lease, I am not sure on that one. Call the expedite company your interested in and ask them. They will point you to a lease purchase if that is what your wanting. I am not interested in owning one of these beast so I have not checked, however I know there are quite a few teams that are on a lease/ purchase program so there has to be one available. Me, if I buy it will be a Sprinter van. :biggrin_25523:
