this kind of thing makes me think again about this snake pit business. I guess thats good. At least I know not to touch the 07 thru 10 08-10 would be a 660 not a 600.
This is why it might be best to buy a beat rig for 15K and rebuild everything at the start.cetanediesel Thanks this. -
I have a 09 Prostar with a Cummins ISX and an Eaton 9 speed ... I average 7.5mpg. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depends on, load terrain, trailer and weather - but on average 7.5.
First slow yourself down to 62. But given where you're at it isn't going to help much ... now you ready to spend some money.
1. DPF system, DPF filter, prefilter and DPF igniter ... remove, clean and test everything. Bake the DPF filter, flow test and pin test. If it fails replace it $1800-$2000 if you can get away with out replacing the DPF filter ... another $2400 if you have to replace it.
2. Cooling system ... pressurize and test for leaks, especially the EGR cooler. The EGR cooler will spill into the turbo and gum up the DPF system. Are you using any coolant at all? Any? If you've had to put in one drop, you're in trouble. EGR cooler $3000, radiator $2300.
3. Pressurize and test the air charge system. Replace any leaking hoses ... Should be able to get out of this for less than $1000.
4. Replace the crank case air breather filter $200.
5. Do a forced regen and test for exhaust leaks. Probably replace the flex pipe $900. If the exhaust manifold is leaking another $2100.
6. Do an overhead $500.
7. Start doing a regular oil analysis ... who know what else is crapping out on that engine.
Good luck ...Twicebit and Charli Girl Thank this. -

let me ask you this question, how much was your gross revenue for those 3150 miles??? and when you bought the truck did you get a dyno test done before buying?
-
You paid $11,000.00 for a 2007 truck from a dealer, and you dont think there is something wrong with them?
RedForeman and Container Hauler Thank this. -
When you basically wrote "I dropped $22000, $11000 for each", what does that mean? Enlighten us please.
-
22000 down srry should of said it , when i ran 3100 miles i pumped 2500 dollars i made to myself close to 1200 dollars
Twicebit Thanks this. -
A company driver makes 40 cents per mile. You need to find better loads.
-
again what was your gross on those 3150 miles? hopefully it was at least 5500 to the truck but from your above posts it seems it was around 3700 which is aroind 1.20 a mile, if so there is your problem.
