There is one thing I will say about Trans Am. That Blue Tree System was dumber than a sea slug.

Did a doubletake on your post. I taught k-12 art few centuries ago, but in northwest Ohio.
Way back when about every pickup truck had a rifle in the rack first day of hunting season. Corn fed venison... yummy. Didnt worry about strangers with guns way back then. They wouldnt have stood a chance, the local kids were good shots.

FYI for anyone traveling through Arkansas .....

According to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, improvements to Interstate 430 will require overnight closure of the northbound lanes of Interstate 430.

Crews will be working to repair the pavement on Interstate 430, resulting in northbound traffic being reduced to one lane.
In addition, drivers exiting Interstate 630 onto Interstate 430 will have a shortened merge zone.
The closures will be Wednesday night, September 4th through Friday morning, September 6th between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. each day, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.
In addition, pavement repairs will require a lane closure on Interstate 40 in North Little Rock.
The work will be performed on Interstate 40 at the Young Road Overpass, which is just east of Crystal Hill, at mile marker 149.
The repairs will require the westbound outside lane to be closed Wednesday, September 4th and Thursday, September 5th between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Well, Im sad to say that Im about halfway out the door. Im taking my hometime in less than two weeks and going to emty everything out of my truck except my shower bag and clothes. As soon as I get close enough to home that thry cant suddenly screw me with a randm swap to keep me out I will be putting in my two weeks notice. I would stay if I could stay n as a company driver, but we know that wont happen, so its time to move on. Im ready for a paycheck. Yes Ive overfueled on a couple of occasions, and some of those were intentional due to awesome diesel prices. But 800 miles in one week? Sitting for two days at a time while weekend dispatch refuses to acknowledge you on the satellite? Half my time with TransAm I didnt even have a dispatcher. Really, I was nuts to stay this long. Im not missing my kids grow up so I can drive for free. I know when and where I made mistakes that caused asetback, but TransAm has dropped the ball too many times for me to stick around and try to recover. Its been an nteresting ride and despite all the crap, I will genuinely be sad to turn that truck in.

I still teach art in a middle school...I moved from Nebraska for my job in central Florida 27 years ago! Everybody here had a truck with a gun rack. Now I drive a pickup too....minus the gun rack.
George has been saying how brown the Midwest is, and here is so lush and green. I love Florida.
