Good luck man, best way to get your CDL. Buddy of mine was making 120k a year solo there, home daily, working 6 days a week before the hour of service kicked in but you can still crack ALOT of dough there. Suck it up on the dock and teaming cause in the end it'll pay off.

Simply put I've been a driver for many years with a few trucking companies and I have been with od the last 3 years I wish I made the decision to go over here sooner and not waste so much of my life with crappy trucking companies..Take the job at od and stick with it

Thanks, for all the great info. I have not been hired, I have only went through the application process. I have not had a interviewed yet. I called them last week and they said it could be another week or so because it takes so long to ck references. But I have a opportunity right now to go too trucking driving school at this moment for 21 days. I am seriously leaning that away, and hopefully come back to OD in a year or so. I have not had a job sense April and I need to work. Hard to wait. Thanks again. twm

I think they just got a pay increase to .58 cents a mile. They got .019 added to. 555 (or something in that ball park) Not dispatched miles but actual miles you drive. You'll get less the first year and a half. No dock time or anything outside of driving and drop and hooking. Work 5 days then go home for 2.5. It's better than any truckload job, even Walmart

I went to mrt white pine,tn to apply for driver but seen they was hiring for dock so i went for that to stay close to home cause have newborn. Its $16.40hr to start top out $21.05 and insurance is free (premium). Got interview same day i applied and got called same day as interview. Took drug test should hear back. Must be needing dock workers. Want to do driver later if can. Think its 54 cpm start out 6/7 days then home on teams. Either way its prob $1350 a week linehaul and $800 something dock a week

Won't be long until your in a truck. I'd think you'd like it better running solo instead of teams though.

    twm and Skinny78 Thank this.

Yeah i would, they start out teams im hearing for year or two then bid on something. Start solo i would have to go to some big otr outfit or averitt down the road in kingsport but they dont help you get cdl like OD.
