Most company trucks are governed at 65mph. A very few are 68mph. Then there are a few companies that rob you and have them at 62/63mph. I have yet to see any company over 68mph but don't hold me to that.

I guess nobody ever passes you in your 68 mph truck? That is ludicrous to say/think that most companies are governed at 68 or less. There are hundreds of thousands of trucking companies operating in the US today, not just the 20 or 30 big ones that everybody notices. I could name dozens of companies that have UNGOVERNED trucks running up and down the highway at this very minute.

some of the cfi/con-way truckload trucks will still do 70. lots of small companies around here are wide open, even if they may have small motors.

    Here is a dumb question:

If so many companies have their truck speeds governed, how come I see so many going so much faster than 65 or 70MPH? My passenger car stays close to those speeds, and I can not even come close to counting the thousands of times I have been passed, night and day, by a big rig.

You'll fined some older drivers like my dad played with their trucks alittle I know the 98 FLD freightliner you can over ride the govenor right under the shift boot with a jumper wire. But don't get caught. Other drivers would ask how he did it he said steroids.lol but it is illegal.

Oh, I won't be doing any of that, just trying to understand the apparent contradiction between the number of fast big rigs and the domination of the governors on them...

    It all depends on:
    *The company
*The run / account the truck and driver is on
    ...etc.
Schneider has theirs goverened at 65 with teams and dedicated (not sure if its all or just some accounts) at 67. Although, I've passed quite a few teams and have yet to be passed by a fellow pumpkin.

I know with FFE company trucks are set # 65, and lease trucks are set # 70.
