There is Bank Of America and Wells Fargo. Problem is there are none of those at truckstops, as the scumbag truckstops have gotten in with scumbag Triton and charge you $3.95 per transaction. The best thing to do is go into scumbag Walmart and join their outfit called WoodForest, at least at MalWart you wouldn't have to pay a transaction fee. It's very hard to get to ATMs besides the ripoff scumbag triton ATMs.

    Chinatown and mje Thank this.

I've put some thought into this myself recently, and it seems the best bet is any one that restores ATM fees, though I don't know which ones do this yet.

Open an account with Charles Schwab. They reimburse all ATM fees.

It is NOT wise to carry enormous amounts of cash, however, travelers checks are accepted all over the country, (at least the last time I knew of). Travelers checks can be replaced if lost or stolen. A credit card with a "decent" credit line can be helpful, however, you really have to be careful with one.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

There are plenty of them online banking debit cards that work pretty good. My last couple years I switched to Netspend.com. It's a flat $5 a month with no other fees if you know the tricks. Use cashback when you need chump change. If I needed a sum of money you can stop at most grocery stores and go to the customer service desk and they'll give you cash back with no purchase. Most seemed like a $200 limit but I have got $500 before with no charge. Other than that use it as a debit card for purchases which I never had a problem. You can set up direct deposit and get as many cards as you want attached to that account as in letting your family have access or having a back up card if you need to cancel the other one for security reasons like an auto bill pay you cancelled and they keep debiting you. You can put a stop to that real quick by switching cards.

Each of them cards have unique numbers. You can go online and cancel one and start using the other card in a few clicks. Another reason I like them is they are not fee hungry like many brick and mortar banks have become. I even have free overdraft protection.

You have to watch them ATM fees, they'll eat you up.

I'm at home now and use our local bank but I still use that card for online purchases. They are good for truckers that live on the road. If you are interested in them PM me and I'll give you my email address and I think they give you $40 free with a new account and direct deposit.

bank of america doesn't have any branches in utah either. only 2 in idaho. last time i looked into them.

i use my credit union checking debit card. which also works as credit. very seldom do i have cash on hand. got my habit from when washington mutual used to be around. 3 pennies every time the card was swiped. easisest 60 bucks i made through the year. too bad the gooberment took them away. best bank i ever had the pleasure of doing business with.,

if i need cash. i'll take 100 out over my purchase at walmart. only toll i seen so far that didn't take credit was seattle. haven't been to the east much though. hopefully they take credit.

Join a credit union & get a debit card; that's the cheapest way. If your a veteran join USAA Credit Union.
USAA is the website also. Here's some benefits:

    • Qualified members can deposit checks with their smartphone.[SUP]3[/SUP]
    • Pay, manage and view all your bills in one place with Web BillPay.

    • Create a budget and track your spending with USAA MoneyManager.[SUP]4[/SUP]
    • Free unlimited funds transfers to and from any bank nationwide.[SUP]5[/SUP]
    • Receive alerts when there's suspicious activity on your USAA account.
