Usually, that's true, if you get with the right company. Ask questions when looking for a reefer company. Lot's of food stuffs, canned goods, & produce from California to the East Coast. I've even seen tomatoes go from California to the East Coast, then another load of Florida tomatoes back to California. Some reefer companies specialize in back to back coast runs. I even hauled a load of wool, in big bales, from California to the Carolinas textile mills, then peanuts from the Carolinas to West Texas. Very interesting, you just never know. Not positive, but I think Holland Enterprises does a lot of that coast to coast. Ask questions so you don't get stuck with some reefer outfit doing 300 - 500 mile trips for weeks & weeks. I just really love the very long haul running.

I don't know about that? The one GA to CA produce run I had I made 25% which I usually grossed between $1800 and $2100 round trip. That's up to 40 cpm. It all depends on the company and how honest they are. They can easily lie about what a load pays.

That's pretty much true. You'll see a bunch of green lights on I-10/I-20 for the southern runners.

I used to love the long hauls. Did it for many years. I do short haul stuff now, might be gone a couple of days or could be home everyday, but sometimes I miss just going out on a 3000 mile run, only thing is I make better money doing this regional stuff than I did running long hauls.

Yes, Seven Hills gated. Bought it earlier this year. Right now it's rented out and I'm kicked back taking a breather in China with the little wifey; that's her in the avatar. She's trying to strong arm me into moving back, sooner rather than later.

That's probably why I-40 is worn out, all those reefer drivers with the hammer down.

Not when you have to drive 1400 mles within 24 hrs.
I prefer my current 2000 miles a week and Sat home . Things change if you pay for fuel and repairs

I'll take the longer hauls... I'm pretty happy with anything that takes a couple of days to run (900 miles +). Less shippers, more flexible drive times to avoid traffic. I love a day where all I have to do is pre/post trip, fuel and drive.

I got one when I was with GTI as I came off a 34: 2200 miles. Day one: get loaded, fueled and 350 miles. Then just hammer out 550 a day till delivery. Made for a nice week (ok 4 1/2 days).

Ok, I'm glad we have a consensus. On the flip side, how does one make a good week of miles is they have alot of shorter loads? One company I was looking at averages pretty low. Let's say 400 miles. Of course it's heresay, coming from something I read online, but let's use 400 for an example. I have had a couple weeks like that in the past anyways. For me it didn't work out. But I have talked to drivers that said they enjoyed being close to home.

How does it workout? Can it?
