Scanners are illegal in a commercial vehicle in Virginia. Don't ask how I know I'm not sure about the other 47 lower states.
Lilbit Thanks this. -
Scanners are illegal to have in commercial vehicles.

Hams need special licensing and even a more concrete reason to have in a commercial vehicle if you get through the red tape first...also scanners are illegal as well

I've seen ham radios in trucks. Saw a former pilot with aircraft monitoring equipment in his truck several years ago. He could listen to aircraft pilots communicating, but he couldn't communicate with them, is what he told me. Saw a Canadian driver with a powerful fishfinder in his truck; said it blocks radar; he had it mounted behind the grill.

You must have your license in your possession.

It's the transmitting that is illegal. Besides, anyone can get a no-code license these days. It's very easy.landstar8891 Thanks this. -
Several posters have said Scanners are illegal..
But nobody has provided links to laws.
I knew some States have Laws against Mobile Scanners, but in those states it doesn't matter if you are driving a CMV or not.
