51 members of Congress is a drop in the bucket. Not a very impressive number when one considers the number of house member and the senate.

Call me overly optimistic when it comes to getting rid of that idiotic new restart rule. I don't mind the 30 minute break because I just fuel up then grab a shower and I'm good on all counts.

Our hours of service in Canada are so much more liberal, and yet, I've never felt tired by using them.

Anything to make it easier to make money, I'm all for it.

I feel bad about how strangled the American truckers seem to be these days.

It also seems that the more regulated truckers become, the more reckless they appear to be. If the rules were more relaxed, the drivers would feel the same way and not have to rush and put themselves and others in danger just to make a buck.

I like the Canadian hos rules. I just want more flexibility so I can sleep when tired and drive when most rested.

Sitting around, waiting, watching the clock, doesn't make me less tired, doesn't make me more alert, And it's possibly going to affect my pay starting next month, though I'm not sure about that yet.

Do you know what my Congressman replied when I wrote to him? Nothing. He didn't even send a form letter reply.

The 30 minute break screws me as a team driver on the night shift. I am used to beig able to get 30 minutes worth of smaller breaks and still stopping hopefully in time to catch a small nap before the truck has to start moving again. At which point I get out of bed get dressed and go inside to take care of morning business. NOW I can't take my smaller breaks IF I want to get my shift done. It is bad enough I can't ever get 8 straight hours of sleep unless i get lucky between loads, now this...I feel robbed.

I feel as though it is unfair and unsafe to force drivers who drive nights in a team operation to take the 30 minutes all at once. I just finished driving a 6 hours straight so I could finish up and lay down for a small break with the truck still. My legs are swollen and tight from all of the sitting. It totally SUCKS! Either way I'm screwed by this new rule. I should add that we have EOB logs that have to register the 30 minutes. Will someone please make it stop???

When all your work has to fall into a 13.5 hour day yes it gets to be a PITA. honestly the FMCSA is making things worse as you said, and they're pushing drivers to run illegally. They don't want to listen to the drivers they want to push rules on us and not listen to what we're telling them. .25 for a pretrip, .25 for a post trip, that leaves me 13 hours to get everything done in my day. When was the last time you were at a dock for less than an hour? I don't know what it's like in canada but in the US it's not uncommon to sit there for a few hours, and that's just to get unloaded not reloaded. I'm allowed to drive for 11 hours. So that leaves 2 hours for me to get unloaded and reloaded to maximize my day. That half hour break doesn't help me or hurt me at all. I log it but I don't take it, Last time It came sitting at a fuel desk at a Peelot waiting on my comchek to get authorized so I could fuel.

Can't split our sleeper time, can't log sleeper at a dock and stop the clock, I don't like the way things are at all. When I'm waiting at a dock door why can't I stop my 14 hour clock if I go to sleep? I'm not getting paid for what I'm doing so why can't I go to sleep and stop the #### while I wait? If I pull in and it's going to be a 5 hour wait even though I made my appointment time, why can't I split my sleeper time? Shouldn't that be allowed as it once was? Is it unsafe for me to be sleeping at that time? I guess so because I'm not allowed to do it. This is why I believe all these laws and what not are revenue based. And when I get more CSA points for not taking my 30 minute break than I can for being intoxicated that also leads me to believe it's revenue based. I mean seriously how often is a driver drunk behind the wheel? Not very often right? But what's more dangerous? Drunk or not taking a 30 minute break? I'd say drunk so shouldn't that be a stiffer penalty, and more points?
