Is anyone using the new k&n air filters for 379 peterbilts? I'm fixing to order some and try them out, but they are $217 a piece compared to cheap paper Baldwin's. Thanks...

I have 1 in my T600 and so far so good (almost a year) oil samples come back better than with the baldwins. Just make absolutely sure it is the correct filter, there was a 1/4" difference in length on the first one they sent, but tech support was excellent in fixing the problem. I had their R&D engineer (or someone claiming to be) calling me and e-mailing me 3-4 times a day to get it right.

Ive seen alot of oil pulled through turbo on smaller turbo charged engines like 5.9 cummins. Also let alot of dust through. Maybe big truck filters are better, still wouldnt trust it

Fleet filters are washable without the oil residue.

For $217 I wouldn't buy one. I have one in my pickup and I'm not impressed. Maybe I over oiled my filter but the top of the air box had oil on it last time I checked the filter. I wasn't happy and I don't think it does a very good job filtering for the money you pay. It may be different with the big trucks but $50 bucks for the filter and $20 for the cleaning kit was a waste IMO. I was cleaning that filter every 3 months though I run a lot of gravel in my pickup. They are easy to clean and oil though. I'm just not too impressed personally.eiloen Thanks this.

K&Ns only filter 90% of the dirt. That is why they flow better. Don't believe the hype.

Thanks guys! This was something I was thinking of doing also....maybe not so much now.

I'm curious what the turbo looks like after a few hundred thousand miles using a K&N.

DON'T SAY THAT!!!! I can't afford the twin turbo kit for my 5.9 yet. Although I can send you pictures of the holset that comes off when I remove it so you know what it looks like. She'll have about 275k on her by that time so I think that'll give you an idea

I predict micro-pitting. If someone wants more flow, just use a larger filter
