They did away with it for the most part. Only need it if you load in AL and deliver in AL on the same load (intra-state)

Can't get there from here apparently......
MN won't let me in on any common sense routes, so into the route survey stage now......for a combine!

they no longer have the AL coil certification and when they did you only needed it if you loaded or unloaded there, the feds rescinded the al law on march 5,2013
On March 5th, 2013 DOT´s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) released the following concerning the State of Alabamas Metal Coil Securement Act [Docket No. FMCSA20110318]: ACTION: Order; Grant of Petition for Determination of Preemption.
SUMMARY: FMCSA grants a petition submitted by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) requesting a determination that the State of Alabamas Metal Coil Securement Act (the Act) is preempted by Federal law. Federal law provides for preemption of State commercial motor vehicle (CMV) safety laws that are more stringent than Federal regulations and (1) Have no safety benefit; (2) are incompatible with Federal regulations; or (3) would cause an unreasonable burden on interstate commerce. FMCSA has determined that there is insufficient support for the claimed safety benefits and that the Act places an unreasonable burden on interstate commerce. -
Route survey...for a combine??? they load it with the wheels on?
Last time I went through there, there was this big detour area around Benson,MN. had to run east and then south to go west. Took forever to get to Sioux Falls. -
Going in on us71, but don't have MN yet..
-
Got to Louisville only to have load rejected for the second time. So now we haul it back to Alabama.

The only time I've ever been asked about my AL coil cert was at an AK Steel.....
And that was just because they didn't want me to use snap binders. Said you had to be certified to use snal binders but the AL coil cert was enough......
