Absolutely! It's his darn trailer, not mine. Not only, it ain't my job but they ain't paying me enough as it is. Notice he didn't say snatch it off and go get it replaced. They don't beat down my door to help keep my truck up. Oh that's right it ain't their job
no tire on rim

The point that you missed is that there's too many people in this industry who will sit for hours instead exerting some small modest effort that benefits both the carrier and the driver. You're not being asked to spend money on someone else's equipment, but if a few minutes effort makes the difference between making a delivery or sitting on the load another day, it isn't real hard to see which outcome benefits all involved.

It sounds to me like he's in the same boat I'm in, copy and paste is a PITA on my phone or pad if rather do it on my PC at home with a mouse.
Since you're so confident in your opinion, how about posting a link for us ignorant types showing the statute where its illegal to single out an axle? -
Some opinions in this thread bring to mind the terms uninformed, whiney, lazy and just not a clue about how this job really works...why pay for a say $600 tire plus a service call plus install labor when it can be singled out then at your terminal have a $400 tire installed by a $20 hr employee?
I had one singled out recently at a tire shop for $15... we get tires at our shop over $250 cheaper.
Yeah, we all like to drive on new tires but if you aren't the one paying the bill its easy to complain...saving say $300 on this deal is $300 more that your company has to pay your salary, benefits and repair or buy equipment.
I want my company to be profitable and have no problem helping them be so...when the profits stops the doors close.Hammer166 Thanks this. -
since I wasn't one of you who said its illegal, I won't go trying to find a link that doesn't exist. ... best not chime in if you don't read the thread first

Okay, I found out it's not illegal. but where do you draw a line with the company you haul for? I could write a long list of b.s. I've had to deal with in the last 3 months. 1 example is they expect me to run over my legal hours to pick up the next load(5 hour break) And this would be 6 days a week. We might squeeze a hour here and there to make the money, and pay your own tolls, but enough is enough.

Find a better company. I hope to own my own truck soon. I'll be the best company that I will ever work for

Although the benefits are going to suck
Hammer166, luvtotruck, TheDude1969 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had a guy on here from Roehl Dirty Diesel was his name tell me "you can't spend profit at walmart". I still have not figured that out.

those were the old days. when you had nothing to worry about but the truck. and could put a band aid on to get it to safety.
TODAY. you can't do that anymore. you might tthrow a code in the ecm. lose a muffler bearing or a catalyst filter. and, with that new ongaurd safety system. the brakes might come on automatically cuz now you've got less rolling resistance.
and let's not forget, some trucks have cams now. the boss is watching every move you make in the name of safety.
Guntoter and TheDude1969 Thank this. -
last winter pulling in to unload didn't see a peice of metal sticking out of the snow pack snagged the side wall on all three outside tires on a tridem after i finnished soiling my pants from the noise. called dispatch they told me to unload and drive it 200 miles to get the tires replaced, so after i unloaded peeled the three outside tires off and drove 200 miles, got a few funny looks saw a few cops no biggie. weight was fine. i was more upset that i cost them 3 tires than i was about removing them off the rim and driving without them.
