Hi all. I,m brand new around here and hope you can help me out---I live near Detroit MI, have never driven a truck, but I think I'm gonna start. I have spent a week with you all reading every post I think might apply to me. Lotsof help by the way. Im pretty sure I'm gonna drive flatbed. (just staying away from driver mills).and Idont mind the extra work. I (maybe unrealisticly ) dont want to be forced to fudge my logs. And want to be as safe as possible (ie--Equipment and training) and just some home time. Iwill be otr so I figure maybe 3 weeks out at a shot. I Can either pay my own school or do company school for the right situation. Ithink Its come down to maveric or watkins and shepperd... any thoughts between the 2. I just would like a fair shot. PS 0 pts and no criminal record. Any help would be appreciated.

I think either one would be a good company to drive for.
What it would come down to is the little things like home time, frequency of home time, pay, etc etc etc. -
I tried both, none of them let me in.
Maverick with a 23 yr restriction and WS will only accept recent graduates (8 weeks at the most) and I graduated last year so no deal for me. I'm considering now CS England, does anyone know about their training? I'm still having some questions answered by them but it looks good so far.
If not I might go back to school do some training and try WS again, it might be cheaper and better this way. -
Not sure if this is current but when I looked into WS about 5 months ago, it was like 90% touch, furniture freight. Might not be a bad thing if you're looking for the exercise.

I've looked into Maverick and they seem like a good company. My biggest concern, other than pay and home time of course, is how long the training is. The orientation paid by most companies is peanuts and for someone who is new to the industry and has been out of work for a while getting "down to business" and earning mileage pay is important. That being said Maverick looks like a solid company.

Maverick will get you home every weekend and they run to motown alot.

Ive been at W/S about 10 years and it is more like 10% touch, 90% drop and hook. Sometimes I wish there was a little more excercise involved.

If you are talking about CRE cr england it will always look good up to the part where you put neck in the noose.

Try SNI. I would pick them over CR England.
Very true. Just ask debbe and virgil.
