I stopped at the TS in Seibert, CO the other night. They have a huge lot that never has more than 10 or so truck in it. The next morning when I was getting ready to leave I saw a driver parked on the on ramp to WB I-70. Only 4 trucks in the lot that night. I dont get some people.

Sometimes I would do it so I wouldn't spend any money in the Truck Stop. Just eat out of the cooler. It works.

Most truck drivers are confused when they get off of the "I". He probably thought that would be his best bet at finding his way back out of there even though that area is all flat open plains.

This just came out from OOIDA Landline Mag. Colorado State Patrol just unveiled a website for I-70 travelers. It has a tab for parking areas on I-70 across the entire state. They list every exit with truck parking and how many spaces. Pretty nice actually.

In 3.5 years I've never had to park on a ramp....The key is to know the places you can stop along your route in case you do get delayed.

I parked for a 30 minute lunch in Michigan on a rural off ramp and state boy pulled me over when I was leaving. No ticket but it was written up that I was blocking traffic. I was at least 5 feet beyond the white line. According to what I have read you have to be at least 5 feet. I told him this and he got an attitude and stated " What did I say" I wasn't arguing. He had a gun.
It was a straight truck and the cop told me a car rear ended a T/T on the same ramp the week before. one point for the company and mine score.
He was acting on pure emotions not on law or common sense. -
if they go near a truck stop they might have to back up.

or maybe he didnt want to be involved in another clean up. -
You can trip all you want. But if you realize your running short because of delays its called making adjustment. Instead of parking at that truck stop u planned at you might have to shut down ahead even if its 50 miles or 100 miles or what ever. But at no time should you ever park on a ramp. The most dangerous thing to do. As for the post about sleeping on the couch yeah go for it your in no danger of being hit by a vehicle. This also applys to rest area ramps. Get your self a truck stop book. They can do u some good. Also if you have a smart phone there are some nice truck stop apps.

Theres a book that sells out of Gary "Park My Rig" Has all kinds of spots in there that allow or are tolerant even if sign says no, even says available spots to park.. Tells close food stores etc. Good investment. Also the new "Next Exit" at any truck stop.moosc Thanks this.
