SCANIA 124 / 470 max RPM

max power is at 1900rpm , redline is at 2400rpm max torque 1050-1350

 

trucks often have limitation for rpm to prevent unintelligent people go in to the unnecessary rpms , some have only in neutral some have both in driving and in neutral

why you would do that? you cant get aynthing except problems

i would even avoid higher rpm than 2000 at engine brake

 

i would say going in to high rpm have sense only in few situation

we deal with construction and we do excavation for buildings they make underground garages ,and ramps to get out are steep 30%, ramps are soft truck can sink to axles

we usually start in 2nd Low gear ( of 16) because 1st is too powerful it spin wheels too easy , and we rev them as much as it can go , on some trucks 2200 2300 , i have mercedes it can go 2500rpm , we go that high in case you lose traction you still have time to release throttle and give it again in case you are going in lower rpm you would not have time to give throttle again

also this high rpm engine dont have torque so less problems with traction but we did it only for short like 20seconds
