would 15 horsepower make a big difference in engine performance? right now my 14 liter detroit is set to 500 hp. frightliner says i can increase it to 515 hp. would that make that big of a difference in mpg and hill pulling power?

Fifteen HP isn't going to make that big a difference for the cost. What would make the difference is a higher torque rating.

Any upgrades, try torque settings, or Pittsburgh Power will give u better options.
