friend looking to buy a fl columbia daycab its a 2001 with a m11 and 10 spd, single axle.

its local work (no hills) but heavy 70k how does this engine do in the long run, how much do they last.

how do these smaller engines(m11, ism, c12, mack 330) do when hauling these weights will u get bad mpg?

kinda hard to find a big engine on a daycab

yea what's the hp, if geared properly, no problems reliable good mpg and powerful for a small block, I'll take the M11 or L10 over small Cats or Macks.

you're friend isn't looking hard enough. All kinds of 400+hp single axles out there. Lots of MBE's and Detroit 12.7l. I've been trying to find one with an 11.1, but they almost all have 12.7. I know that's not "BIG" but it's a fair amount bigger than an M11.

I drove an M11 the other day for the first time. Grossed around 75K. Don't know the hp rating but it wasn't enough. I'm used to a series 60 11.1 hauling 80K grain truck so I know what slow is. The M11 was slower. With the grain truck I've always thought I'm the slowest guy on the road. Not so anymore. M11 are underpowered for 70K+.

At least that's how I see it from my whopping 1 DAY driving one.

    Take it FWIW.

I used to drive 9800 and ERF with M11. Good for European tint trailer with light load

Well you got two things against the truck to heavy haul. The smaller cummins engine hooked to a ten speed. Don't get me wrong it will pull it as long as you are patient. My old boss had a 96 flattop freight with m11 and a 10 speed and it long hauled an equipment float. It did the job, good fuel milage and held togeather it just didn't get going and pull the hills as nice as his higher hoarse trucks with 13 speeds. If you buy it knowing this you won't be disappointed when you start running it.
