I'm sorry, I call BS on this one.
First, the cabinet you're talking about holds their entire supply of drinks for the students. So yes, they keep it locked. But all you have to do is ask for them to unlock it.
Second, there are vending machines everywhere if you need water, or you can drink the tap water, especially since their entire water system is filtered quite well. There's no reason you couldn't just refill the bottle when you needed it, bottled water is nothing but filtered water anyways.
Third, protein in your urine is not ONLY a sign if dehydration, it is also one of the first signs of stage 1 kidney failure. They're not going to send you out in a truck with even the tiniest possibility of a major problem like that without you getting tested first.
If you have them a lousy attitude after all that, I can see why you're not there anymore. Not to mention that if you're too lazy or too whiny to fill a bottle with tap water to drink, there's no way you'd make it as a flatbedder there.
Maverick is FAR from a cheap company. I make more here having come in as a student than THREE other people I know who have been trucking for years. One of them, my 2nd cousin, has driven for 17 years and makes .04 less per mile than I do with only 17 months of driving. Maverick spends more on one of their tractors than most people do on their first house. They're not cheap... But they really hate bad attitudes.

Since when has getting water from a drinking fountain been unexceptable? Common sence is lacking with this one.
storm2004 and Ronin_on_MT Thank this. -
I suppose that 17 months experience allowed you to see the filtration unit right through the walls ? Truckers know when traveling , not to drink from city water sources and also try to stick with recognizable bottled brands as to avoid cramps.

When you answer with, First, I can tell your a real protocol kinda guy and all you did was affirm what I already stated ..DUH.. And when you went on to Second and Third you have responded with knowledge of plumbing and Human urology. I'm sure all your trainee's after riding for days, would concur,...... You are truly amazing CaptainX . You fit right in with the people you work for, with their outright misrepresentation of over inflated driver retention rates.Last edited: Sep 17, 2013

WTH are you talking about?
So they sent you packing because you refused to drink from the fountain...its Arkansas, not Mexico.
Truck driving is not for sissies...that includes people who are paranoid that they may be immunodeficient .
Too many drama queens these days...
Inflated driver retention rates...BS!
You're mad because they didn't accept you...get over it...you're wasting your time trying to belittle them because you don't have a leg to stand on, you know next to nothing about Maverick.Last edited: Sep 18, 2013
storm2004 and Rigbuilder Thank this. -
The fact of the matter is that if you're too scared to drink tap water, you won't make it as a flatbed driver. Are you aware that bottled water is not readily available every single place you go?
I swear, I can't figure out why so many people are downright paranoid about doing anything that might remotely not be sterile. I used to drink from a freaking water hose when I was a kid, and I turned out fine.
Your only major problem during your time at Maverick was your attitude. If you're whining about water from a drinking fountain, why on earth would any fleet manager want to deal with you?
And, I appreciate your last comment about how I fit in. I'd like to think that I represent Maverick quite well. I'm #### proud of that fact, too.
And FYI, they don't misrepresent their retention rate or anything else. All of the facts they publish are easily verified.Rigbuilder and storm2004 Thank this. -
Hell...I was raised on water straight from the ground, milk straight from the cow, eggs straight from the chicken, chicken from the coop not the store....my favorite food is frog legs...etc, etc.
Your typical country boy...I'm healthy as a horse.storm2004 Thanks this. -

Here is a past post from Ridgerunner 665 :
I like Conshohocken...I get most of my loads going home from there
I have always gotten in and out pretty quick...some of those docks are a pain in the ### though.
And speaking of bad places to back in (Jarrett is tight, but you do have room to maneuver to get lined up)...
Nelson Steel in Franklin Park, IL...it took me 20 minutes to get backed in there today.
Grindem posted :
I would rather be paranoid about drinking from city tap water than get on Truckers Report and tell us that because your skills are so poor that it took you 20 minutes to back into your Dock . Don't even reply to me until your skills improve . you are an embarrassment . -
Yep....its plain to see why you got sent home.
Rigbuilder Thanks this.
