I have no use whatsoever for the while me first thing--Anywhere--as for speeding--tailgating in construction zones Just a major problem everywhere--this is another tragedy that did not have to happen--sympathy to all those involved
But while im at it let me throw one more at ya--Any zone where people r working has more hazards than u can count and if none of u have ever had the pleasure of goin thru at the limit and had someone working FORGET where they were for a second and step backwards into traffic--then consider urself very lucky---and when it DOES happen ur gonna wish that 40mph limit was 25....
    Stay Safe yall

I just got parked after being routed around this for two hours, 80 was closed at the 74...My delivery is right off the 81 exit. Kind of hard to be as frustrated when I hear what happened.

I would've replied back, "If the only way you can make your truck payment is to drive like an idiot then maybe you need to find a new career". :)

Is there two separate accidents going on in this thread? The first post mentions a dump bed and the video shows nothing of that? :dontknow:

I agree on the construction zone speed. I don't think its all rookies doing it either. one should expect or anticipate a complete traffic stoppage in these areas. sorry for those involved in crash.

It was a dump trailer like you would haul coal in.The traffic was so slow due to driving directly into the sun.

The first crash was a yellow truck pulling a dump bed trailer. The yellow truck was hit in the rear by the dry van. All the other non sence in the news story was about a related accident, not the primary accident I described. I saw it about 2 minuites after it occured.

If you hit someone in the rear end you a are at fault period... if you cant stop you are either following to closely, driving too fast for conditions or not "driving ahead". BRIGHT SUN in youre face and youre eyes squinted means slow down.

Before truck driving schools came about we were taught to keep our vehicle under control at all times.and following distance was one truck and trailer length for each ten mph of speed.

And it's still taught the same as it was back then. Nothings changed, except for maybe the mindset of the driver who's in a hurry and has little, to no regard for anyone else but themselves.

One of our drivers not long ago (And this was confirmed by the road crew on scene) was going through a work zone on I-81 when evidently, a gust of wind blew the hard hat off of one of the workers, out onto the highway. He reached to grab it, maybe as a reflex reaction, and he was struck and killed.

The driver was found not to be at fault, however, he never climbed back into the truck and quit right then and there.

You may think you never have enough time to make your trip, but you may never have enough to slow down if you think otherwise and you certainly won't get a chance at a do over if something tragic happens.

That mentality of "It always happens to someone else, not me", will bite you in the butt....maybe not today, tomorrow, but one day it will. Ain't a matter of if, just when.
