Hey Desert how is it going? I have been looking at PRIME myself for a while its a coin toss at the moment for me between CRST Malone and PRIME i want to be an O/O ultimately. I live in Oklahoma City so Ill be getting a ride out that way. No busses for me lol. How is the training? I already have my CDL-A+Tanker so I wont be going through the entire ordeal but still...

Everything is done...just waiting to find an instructor. Class size is down to 31, and there are several who still need to pass their CDL. Good luck to them. Gonna go to the driver area and prostitute myself! LOL

I don't know too much about those with experience and their CDL. I do know that several are waiting for trucks....

Well finally have a trainer. Will be doing dedicated Wal-Mart out of Olney. The bad side is not seeing the country and experiencing mountains, shippers and receivers, truck stop food and all. The good side is not experiencing truck stop food and having showers at the DC every night. With this particular DC we'll run Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and one other state. I think maybe Wisconsin but I can't be certain.

We interviewed each other for several hours, talked about truck rules, expectations, and the expected course of training. One advantage to Wal-Mart is daily backing up and docks. I should expect three or four each day. My trainer has a tv on board for the PSD as well as a fridge, microwave, and George foreman grill. We will be able to buy food from wallyworld and save on expenses.

All in all I like what I've seen so far regarding Prime. The Millenium bulding is state of the art. We never even had these amenities when i wworked at Northwesg Airlines eons ago. I'll meet the FM tomorrow and continue with pretrip practice.

Thats nice and all but what happens when you get on your own and get to Tejon, Donner, Cabbage Hill and the lot. It's easy to explain it, it's a whole nother thing without someone their beside you stepping you through it. Or even you sitting next to your trainer watching him do it as he explains it.

My trainee has just under 20k. He's already driven Donner, Snoqualamie, Lincoln Monument. Did Donner last night just after some snowfall. Plows and salt trucks were out. Plus a few others with me behind the wheel like Mount Eagle, 4th July Pass, 3 mile hill and Butte.

I dont see see any advantage training with a dedicated DC driver...unless you are going to work that DC yourself after training. Ignore the terrains aspects. Your dealing with one customer who does nearly everything the same way. What happens when you have to deal with Kraft, or Cargill, or the thousands of other customers and types of freight.

its one thing to explain it, it's a whole nother thing to actually experience it.

CRST Malone is all O/O and all flatbed. You may have to have a year or two of recent experience before they will hire you!

    Hmm

I would be looking for a driver other than a dedicated driver to train me. You need to get out and get in the mountains out west for the winter. You being from AZ means you are going to be doing some, if not quite a bit of the western US, as you will/should be assigned to Salt Lake. Now that said, Do your PSD time with him and then get your CDL, and then get another trainer that does not do the DC's and get the OTR experience that you are going to need.

Please 're-read what I said. All I mentioned was the advantages of having a DC to shower at. I realize the shortfall of serving only one client. Because my previous employer was late with the employee verification, I did not have the privilege of first pic on Friday.

I hope to have another tnt instructor and not do a dedicated run. In fact I had dinner with one last night who may be willing to take me on in three or four weeks. I do know he runs coast to coast.
