Hey OPS and Carriers hope you day is going along well.

    I looked on
    http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onrdiesel/onrdiesel.htm

If I am reading right, a guy who owns only one truck has no options past Jan 1 2014 as a owner other then to upgrade or get out of California? Whats the low down from the drivers side?

    thanks Joe

From what I understand there is no way to extend it this time. You either have a DPF or you can't run there.

Yeah I d like to know that too, based on what I ve read that s the case that you either get a new truck or put a pm filter on it and that will work till 2020ish or something like that but I d like some confirmation of that. I know you can get some money back for either buying a 2010 or newer truck or putting a pm filter. The one problem with the filter it cost almost as much some trucks are worth so you might be better off getting a new truck

I heard mechanical trucks are good for awhile yet cuz they haven't figured out how to put a filter on them.... Any truth to this??

Joe I'm pretty sure that you're good til 2023 with a DPF then after that you have to have an EPA '10 engine - currently that would be a SCR (DEF) engine. If you pull 53' vans or reefers then there is a whole bunch more rules as to Smartway stuff and TRU engine model year to figure out.
