I just stopped for fuel and like usual check my oil with engine off but this time the oil was way above the maximum line! Truck is running like normal and no codes or alarms. What should I do keep going or get it checked out? Could I cause more damage? Truck is a volvo 780. Any input would be greatly appreciated thank you!
Too much oil on dipstick?

If you can let it sit for a while so the oil drains down into the pan. Check it again. I like to check the oil in the morning or after the motor has been shut off for some time. In my opinion you get a better reading.
-
Yes it could. Maybe anti-freeze or even fuel diluting the oil.
-
make sure it isnt fuel in your oil, or you will have damage
-
smell it, does it smell like oil or diesel fuel, feel it with you fingers, is it real thin. Its not anti freeze, if it was you would have brown sludge real thick.
Htoric2008 and MZdanowicz Thank this. -
Volvo D12 engine?
-
Yes d12 engine. It's still rolling normal. Ill smell the oil on my next stop!
-
With a D12.........if the oil is rising,it will be with diesel.
-
Yikes! That sounds like troubles!
-
If that's the case, what is the cause of the diesel mixing?
