Sitting at the rest area of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge just north of Virginia Beach. Got unloaded at the NASA Launch Site in Wallops Island today...
Had an interesting day today. Everything was good till I reached the toll bridge. VA permits state "ANY LOADS EXCEEDING 10'6" IN WIDTH WILL NEED TO CALL 24HRS AHEAD AND OBTAIN AN ESCORT" well, my box was 10'6" exact. I get to the toll booth and the bears come out and measure... 10'6" right on the nose and he says "That will be $200 and you need an escort" Well, I show him my permit, and their website and he gives me a card from inside that sayd LOADS 10'6" or greater will need escort" .... So finally we get the Cheifs office on the phone, and he says that they are not part of the VADOT and are their own entity. So needless to say, i had to pay the $200 and they took me across. Luckily, they billed NASA directly since they had an account with them and I got the approval from the manager over the phone. But still, Why the F can't these people get their crap straight???? Geez....
Reloading a smaller OD piece in Hampton, VA in the morning and going home, thank the lord. I need a few days off after all this crap.
Where is everyone #2!!

Is it full of oil field stuff?

And Jumbo, it's only 68* here but I'm idling my truck. What you don't understand is these dark color trucks get hot, even when it's 45* outside. My outside temp showed 68 but inside was 92

Ruther Glen at the J. Wait out D.C. curfew in the morning then head for Chicago.

You're not too far away. I'm running 64 to US35 and up that way....

Open a window you silly goose, nobody is going to kill you.

The windows are open....No matter what the temp, it's gonna be warmer in a dark truck. Plus I got the artic insulation package on the truck, so it holds the heat, which is awesome in the winter, but really sucks in the summer.

Got home last night. Delivered two partials this morning, swung by the tarp shop and had some patching and sewing done while I waited. New drive tires go on tomorrow. Taking the rest of the month off.
Ready for winter...... -
