Why not work overseas for a large contractor for a year? Make good salary, benefits, tax free. Lots of companies KBR, DynaCorp, Haliburton, etc.
Get your bills paid off, save some money.
Why be gone all the time with crappy OTR company for 400-500 (if that) a week? Makes no sense.
Desperate Measures with CRE?

Well the OP said its pretty much his last hope to get in trucking through CR since he called all the starting companies... All i can tell you honestly go for it if you think you're ready.
My cousin just finished working for them when his one year was up about 3-4 months ago, by all means it is a top 10 worst trucking companies you can go with but he said it gave him an opportunity to get into trucking..
He is now a car hauler and getting paid pretty good. Also he told me the worst thing was being away from home for up to 3 months at the time....
All i can tell you is have a talk with your family and if they support you thats all that matters. It is gonna be tough for sure but we all have to start somewhere
Good luck -

Great pay at CRE? I had a lot of students go company after their training and starting pay was $0.28 per mile. They would be lucky to average 2,500 miles a week. So that's around $700 gross minus all of CRE deductions. Maybe the cost of living for certain people is well below that net take home.

you can try c1 driving school. after school you'ed be with usa for solo or pam for teams. you would need about 100 for dl an money for 3 weeks of food while in school. but probably need more money till yer first check comes in. good luck

There are several ways to get into the trucking industry and pretty much all of them suck. You are picking one of the worst options out of all of them.Think about your family because you won't be able to support 3 kids and a wife at CRE. You won't see them either. I've said it before and I'll say it again.....if you enter the trucking industry broke and desperate, you will most likely leave it more broke and more desperate. In your case you have even more to lose so I would reconsider.

I concur with Dewey, my husband is ex CRE also. He did do lease, but they have a habit of starving you out if you want to go solo and they want you to train or even if you had a co-driver versus as a trainer. He had a brand new truck that stayed in the shop a whole lot, at your expense if leasing if you stay in a motel.
Try Prime, they drive the shortbody trucks. He has a great dm, he does stay out for long periods of time, but when he needs to come home his dm makes it happen. The don't hassel you, you don't have to worry about repowering loads all over creation. As long as you make it from point A to B they stay out of your hair, but if you do have a problem with hours or anything they will help figure a plan.
They do pay the best for training. They have a very nice Campus Inn which is run like a motel. I believe while in school they have food vouchers you use. You can apply for your passport at home if you have time. You will need a legal with the seal birth certificate for it. The TWIC will be done there, you won't need it right off to start usually. The Twic and passport will be mailed to your house and the copy of your birth certificate that you had to include for the passport, it takes several weeks for this to be done. Make sure you have info about your mom and dad, name, birth date, birth place, etc. It does take money for these, don't remember how much.
The schooling at Prime is free if you drive for them for a year, the same as CRE. Prime absolutely does not force any leases on you.
Please stay away from CRE unless as a last resort and then bail asap. -
I read somewhere that FFE is free if you stick with them a year. Check the website.
