I stopped in at the little place near Minot last fall and the showers were $15 and a cheeseburger was $12.99 !!!!! Silly oil field guys paying those prices for stuff.

I refuse to go into Shi...i mean Pittsburgh...I have more of a problem when I wear my Ohio State hard hat into Michigan...I have been made to wait hours (yes I charged detention) I have had it inspected to see if it met plant safety standards...and at a small tool and die place was refused entry so they unchained and did all the work while I sat in the cab (idiots)Logan76 Thanks this.

Just got off the phone with one of the newer drivers from our terminal. He is supposedly "ready to quit and go to work for Roehl". It seemed like he was wanting me to talk him out of it. I just told him that he is probably doing the right thing. In five months he ran out of fuel twice, the shop had to ORDER him to clean the garbage out of his truck and honestly he really isn't that good of a driver. I hope the "Power of Red" and "Getting home more and taking home more" works out for him.

Running out of fuel twice in that short of time frame? Fuel gauge broke.

That's bad when you have to be ordered to clean trash out of your trk. Hate to see what his home looks like.
Are you going to help him move out of the trk. and give him a printed out map to his new job..

I'm picking up in Wallops Island tomorrow morning.
I'm guessing I'll need to hit the ATM machine and let them measure my 10'6' wide o-ring thingy. -
Sounds like one of those people for whom the T-shirt - " I'm up, I'm dressed what more do you want" is not far from the truth.
-
Sure sounds that way! I guess he never heard the term "You don't crap where you eat or sleep"?

Oscar is right Tennant does a lot more than Deere. In fact, their new yard in Colona doubles as a consolidation facility for CNH. They are adding trucks, so that is more capacity in the specialized sector of the market. I don't fault any of my customers or other carriers for our situation. We have our own pricing strategy. Sometimes it works and sometimes we need to tweak things a bit. Our customers have to work to keep their cost as low as possible. If other carriers are willing to work for less, I can't do much about that. We just have to do our best to keep rates up and work to find other customers that value our service enough to pay more than they would some mega carrier or broker. I am a big believer in free markets.
