Yes there are exceptions noted by the Town of Chapel Hill for speaking with children, guardians, and spouses and while in a stopped vehicle.
Chapel Hill is just one town and I don't know what other towns are doing, however, Schneider National may face other bans that are more strict.
Car drivers are the main focus don't you think? How many people have to die before we all (car and truck drivers) agree distracted driving is unsafe?
When the next soccer mom pulls in front of you aggressively and you're both chatting away on your phones, you know she's at fault. But it won't bring her back once you run over her and kill her and her kids.

wow guys really u guys are debating over a couple towns that have a lax at best cell phone ban
1: if schneider really fired someone over talking on a cell while driving with a headset. did u guys ever stop to think maybe the company was looking for a reason any reason whatsoever to get rid of him?
2: why would schneider want to enact such a rule they would lose drivers by the thousands by the month! maybe if the job paid somewhere in the 6 figure yearly salary range then yah i can see people willing to hang up the headset but not for the slave wages a training company like this pays
3: and last but not least if a company wants to be that anal about every little thing why would u want to work there training or not. i dont know about u guys but im in this for the freedom not to be babysat and luckily my company understands this

So basically the 65k I made last year is slave wages. I get it now. I'm gonna go work for 40k I guess... Thanks for the perfect sense you made. It opened my eyes.

Pretty bold communicating with Schneider while driving. If Green Bay shows up on your phone while driving, ya don't answer, and don't call them while driving. Oh, and ditch the Bluetooth set when entering an OC (unlikely that would be noticed ,, or that it's proof you were using your phone, but better to be safe). Pretty simple. I didn't even answer if I didn't recognize the number, I wouldn't put it past them to be sneaky and check on drivers like that.rickybobby and KE5WDP Thank this.

This is the town I live in and had no idea... LOL. Not that I talk on a cell phone while driving, even in my pickup truck. Can't hear #### anyway.fr8te_sh8ker Thanks this.

I did that plenty times, but that was when I was new. They just told me to call back after I stop.

They tell you at orientation no use of cell phones while driving. Its up to at that point, if you want to take the job.

I see people here in SLC pull into the yard all the time with their headsets on. Its a PITA to always have to pull over to find out what my DBL wants, but thems the rules
