Truck Driver guned down around 4am in Tampa Fl. after showing up for his delivery. Sercurity said not at this time so he went back to his cab for a nap. Intruder broke into his cab. Police said no witnesses. He got shot in the chest one time. He was at a chlorox ficility. It is an area where there is some crime like break in cars and stuff. As a newbie I hope its not really like this through out the country:biggrin_2552:

Thats sad but it is something we have to watch out for alot especially early mornings like we sometimes have to do. So just watch your surroundings and be careful.

The article says he made it to the security gate and got help. Does this mean there was a guard?
If so, what did they see or hear?

It's not like this through out the country, however you should absolutely be aware of your surroundings at all times. Be careful and selective of where you park. I know that a lot of drivers (myself included) like to park at shippers and receivers whenever possible, however I will not do so if I'm delivering/picking up in a high crime area. It's just common sense to stay away from some places at night whenever possible. Shoot, there's even some truck stops that I won't be anywhere near after dark.

If you just use common sense and always keep yourself alert and aware of your surroundings you won't have any problems.
