really? I work 11 to 13 hrs per day, 5 days per week, make excellent money and regularly come close to my 70. Why, because there is more work than drivers and it keeps coming and coming and coming.

must be nice to not have any work to do that they can sit for 4 days and then work themselves to death the other 4 days. Again, if there is more work than people to do the work, someone has to do it, and that means you work overtime.

Really, this is a totally loaded question and situation. It depends on the situation, accident, who's at fault, weather conditions, time of day, officer(s) on hand, etc., etc., etc.

When I had my accident in '01, I was over on hours (about 40 minutes), 4 vehicles (two semi's, two cars) involved, local Arlington, Tx. cops handled the investigation. They never looked at or asked to look at my log books. Heck, even thru the investigation, neither our insurance company, the other parties insurance or the lawyers involved asked to see my log books. I never admitted to anything (was only interviewed by our insurance company, never deposed by the other side) and the case was settled out of court, we paid $5,000 on a $2.5 million lawsuit and helped the woman I rearended go after the other trucking company (hit and run).

Now, the opposite, I have a friend who was totally legal, had been on vacation for 2 weeks, his second day back to work he pulled out in front of another vehicle and was t-boned. No one died, but the cops, insurance and lawyers dissected him, his logs and the company like maggots on rotten meat. Insurance originally paid out $60,000, following the lawsuit they paid out $1.6 million. He got two tickets and paid $900 in fines. He couldn't have been any more legal if he was a fresh out of school.

I went from the Pipeline to a logger for the Winter so don't deal w/ log books, ect. much. However, the first thing the truck boss said when I was hired over the phone was "Do you have a clean record?" Yes I do. That's unusual, your hired. A good driving record will take you further than experience or good looks.:biggrin_25522:

You can't make that assumption though, because he never said what he gets paid for running that way, and I believe that he is a company driver.

Keep telling yourself that. Too many folks know of too many cases where drivers went to jail for the crime of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

you're also an O/O, I'm a company driver, I also haul containers. 13 hrs today, did 16 moves (customer to depot, depot to ramp, ramp to customer, customer to ramp, etc., etc., etc.) and there was still another 14 loads to be moved when I left, guess my 6 co-workers who were still at work will have something to do. Again, there is more work than people to do the work. Also I enjoy working long days keeps me occupied, keeps my mind occupied, not to mention I'm a type a personality who needs to be on the go, I spent 6 days at a nudist resort in Mexico and I was bored because I had nothing to do, even watching hot naked women wasn't good enough.
