Well I held an IL cdl till a few months when I moved out of state and transferred my cdl. Now I am back and need to transfer CDL back to IL but it's one of the only states that makes you retake the driving test. I'm looking for someone near Marion, il or the southern IL area to rent a farm truck or any class A truck from for an hour or two. The trailer has to be 42 ft or shorter at least at the Marion DMV due to the lot size.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks

i would think with the state req. to re-take the driving test the schools probably have something setup for your needs they would probably be my first call. do you still hold a vaild out of state cdl? that might allow you to rent a truck from a truck rental place?

Ezrider yes I still have a cdl it's just from CA. I found a place about an hour away that rents trucks for 600 dollars a day to take your test. Seems like someone's gotta have an old farm truck around that I can throw a couple hundred at.

Find an Idealease and see what they charge. Last time I used them it was around $150-200/day+ $0.40/mile for a day cab. If there isn't one close start checking major truck dealers and see if they rent trucks out.

600 bones to take the test seems aw-full steep. esp considering you should only need it for a couple hours, take an hour or so to get used to the truck another to do the tests.

With IL and their stupid revenue generating rules there are many new companies that rent trucks specifically for taking your CDL road test. I know there are a bunch surrounding Chicago. I come up empty searching southern IL. A dump truck and trailer would work if you knew someone.

You might have to take a road trip.

    $395 in west Chicagoland

$300 in Elk Grove Village. That's where I took my test.

Other ideas.... Craigslist ad, you might find a local driver that might do it for a couple hundred.
Go down to the Marion test facility and scope out any possible trucks. Maybe someone has a business card or ad hanging up. Look in your local newspaper and yellow pages.

Ya unfortunately they're all up by Chicago. I was looking around Springfield, Decatur and champaign somewhere half way thru, but nothing. Appreciate the advice I'll try what you said if not I'll have to make a road trip maybe.
