So Ive got a check engine light coming on when I'm rolling. Already checked all fluids and they are topped off. I have done the code check using the cruise control switches and it reads code 55 which stands for no faults detected. What could it be then? Also the same day the check engine light came on I noticed that the temp gauge on the mirror started reading high temps like 168 degrees and now it stopped working and reads two hyphen symbols. Any clues?

An intermittent CEL but no active fault code is usually(in my experience 3 different times) a bad wiring harness connection under the valve cover. The non-working temp in the mirror might be a bad ground but I doubt it, probably a sensor.
Workinprogress1001 Thanks this. -
You'll need to get it hooked up to a diagnostic computer and read the logged codes.
The mirror temp sensor will not make the check engine light come on. Check the wiring 1st, if you need a sensor, they are about $35.00 and come with the rivets you'll need to pop rivet the mirror back together. -
Hi there
Need help.
I have a Cat C-15. The check engine light comes on flashes a couple of times and remains on. Some times it will come off and stay off for a while and then come back on. Also ABS light on and same ordeal on/off. Scanned with computer but the codes were off the dash at the time. It read no fault. I also did the check myself with the cruise controls and i got back code 55 !! (Which means no code) What ever that means !!
I recently did an overhead and thats when the check engine light came on and I feel that when the truck is in a pull it has loss of power or hesitation (maybe loss of fuel or pwer, not sure) it just doesnt feel right. It vibrates a bit when it pulls.
Can anyone help with this? Has anyone had this similar problem? Please advise.
Thanks,
