so earlier this morning i bumped into a kid around my age and we got to talking about trucking, he got his CDL last year and i asked him if he bought any cds or books ect, he said he found a ( website ) and it had practice questions on several endorsements/basic knowledge ect, i mentioned TR and he said ( yeah thats it !!! )
he said he read AZ's manual, and once he aced the tests he went in and took the actual test...
does anyone have any input on this ? i mean, ive read lots of guys on here saying ALL cdl questions are the same.
thanks guys !!!!!!

Many people have emailed me to say that they studied for their endorsements just by taking our practice tests over and over, but I don't recommend it. There is a lot of useful information in the CDL manual that doesn't lend itself to multiple choice questions. Guessing 'D. All of the Above' may get you an endorsement, but when you're in an emergency situation you need to know what actions to take, and also why those actions are important. Reading the CDL manual will give you the context for your actions.

Good example of why it's so important to read the question first.....READ THE ENTIRE QUESTION......Also why is important to just not only know that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line....you need to know WHY a straight line is the shortest distance between 2 points.Squad27 Thanks this.

Today I completed and passed the General Knowledge, Air Brake, and Combination Vehicle tests. I used the practice tests on this site and on Truckingtruth.com. Prior to taking the tests I felt confident that I would pass them without difficulty. However two days ago a friend gave me a copy of the 2011 Florida CDL Handbook. I read the handbook and feel that I learned a lot more than if I had only studied the practice tests.

Tonythetruckerdude and Squad27 Thank this. -
A few months ago, I started out by taking the FULL practice tests on here, just to get started. Read my home state (Ohio) CDL maual briefly. Then when I got to Utah for training, read that states manual, which is pretty much the exact same as Ohio. Took their practice tests, along with the practice tests on here over and over again, until I kept getting 100%. I missed 0 on general, 1 on combo and air, 2 on tanks and Dbl/Trp. The tests on here helped me so much, and helped build my confidence in test taking, as I saw the scores go up and up.
I wouldnt take the tests alone, read that manual, it sure helps, and good to know in situations in the truck. -
If you were flying an aircraft that assumption would sometimes be incorrect.

Sorry..... don't know too much about flying an aircraft...could tell you a thing or 2 about jumping out of one though....

hey guys thankyou for all the input,
i didnt plan on ditching my cdl booklet for the tests, but i did plan on reading the manual once and then using it as the study book for when i cant figure out a question on the practice tests.
and the the comment about ( 2 points ) IMO, its better to understand why rather then memorize why =]
i love how helpful this site is, you guys make me wanna get my cdl since the atmosphere seems really nice =]
