I just installed a new 2050 torque clutch because i had some transmission work done (kept jumping out of gear and not going completely into gear) well tranny is fine but new clutch slips under acceleration anytime boost goes over 35psi loaded or empty. adjusted to 2'' free play and 1 1/2'' freeplay slips either way. i did resurface flywheel. and do run a MR. Haney special C-15 putting about 750hp to ground but old 1850 clutch NEVER slipped. ANY IDEAS BEFORE I PULL TRANNY AGAIN?

they will slip some when new. but should quit after a short time. saying that a friend of mine installed a new 2050 clutch and it would never quit sliping. it was a reman. replaced with new and no more sliping.

A new clutch will slip for up to a week , not all the time but will lessen with time best to wear it in a little when it slips give it a little fuel for bout 5 to 10 seconds to get some heat in then drive it easy for a while it should take a hold better with time . When you resurfaced was it done on a lathe or a resurfacer? If it was done on a lathe I have been told it takes longer for it to break in but it should ! Hope this helps.

the other important info here is it seems way worse on high side of tranny any heavy throttle and it slips, in low side you have to REALLY try in order to get it to slip

When I had my clutch replaced several years ago I picked up the truck and was bobtailing back to the shop, in the high side it would slip. I took it back to the shop and told the owner about it, he said that is very common and he normally takes the trucks out after a clutch job and will get on the throttle and the brake going down the highway and make it slip, let off for a bit and do it again, he will do this until it stops slipping.

    STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't try to slip it. Every time it slips it pulls hot steel from the plates and deposits it on the friction material of the drive discs. This lowers the coefficient of friction capabilities of the friction material on the drive discs, which in turn causes the clutch to fail prematurely.

Drive the truck with high RPM staying away from the peak torque generated by the engine at lower RPM. You may have to drop or split the top gear at every hill to raise engine RPM, even at cruise speeds and part throttle. This lowers the peak torque of the engine and the clutch should hold. Use the clutch at every shift.........Double Clutch Every Gear Change!!!!!! This will cause the steel surface to wear smoothly to the drive plates with no load against them. Drive this way for 10,000 miles. If the clutch doesn't seat in by then and stop slipping then you need to buy another one. Next time buy a Spicer Easy Pedal II with a 2050 torque rating. I've never heard of the brand you bought and it may never be able to hold the power you're producing.

If a friction plate is in backwards it will slip too. Trp clutches are ok, haven't had too many complaints or warranty on them. That being said, eatons are still better.
