Northern Florida might be difficult to get into with Prime... they limit the number of hires there due to the ability to get them back regularly for hometime. So... are you wanting to be a company employee or a lease operator? What are you looking for if you could design your perfect job?
And more importantly, does orange make you want to puke?![]()
Prime or Schneider?

As of last week when i spoke to a Prime recruiter, they are hiring in north Florida for reefer, starting at .42cpm in a LW...at least as far down as Gainesville. You would have to check with them with your exact location.
Mranderson Thanks this. -
My only regret about coming to work for Schneider is that I didn't do it sooner. If you haven't decided yet I would recommend Schneider. They do have van, tanker, reefer, container, and flatbed accounts. They have many dedicated opportunities, and they pay well. I live in PA around the Breezewood/Bedford area and I work on a dedicated account where not only do I get home everyday but I CAN go home everyday. I never worry about my pay check. But best of all, in my experience with them (my one year anniversary is coming up on October 1st), I am treated with respect-not only as a human but for my experience too.
Give Schneider a chance to show you how it feels to be treated good.Mranderson Thanks this. -
Schneider over Prime. Between the two there are glaring differences. Where company politics are concerned, Prime sucks and the company is way too intrusive on your personal life regarding information they are not required to have but insist on obtaining anyway. There is only one reason companies take this approach and that's to use said information against you should they decide the need arises. And I'm NOT talking about background checks of any type, I'm talking personal information such as financial and other personal things Prime asks. I remember another company taking this a step further, such as Roehl or Maverick (can't recall which) where applicants are required to take a psychological test in the form of a questionnaire with multiple choices. As Pink Floyd wrote, "Run like hell."

Thank you for all the input, it's definitely helping. I am north of Tampa now but will be moving back to PA because I know it will be easier to get in and out up there. I am looking for a career with whomever I choose, I want to stay company driver and stay with one company for a long time. Prime will start me at .42 and Schneider will start me at .32, so even with the pay difference Schneider is a better choice?

Can only offer what I know for certain and what I know for certain regarding Prime is something I would not subject myself to. While Schneider is a mega company they do offer some good opportunities and the company has a better reputation than Prime from everyone I've talked to, everything I've read and everything I know about each company.Mranderson Thanks this.

I would say that both companies have their pluses and minuses. So far you could start with either, and decide to stay for a long time. You need to look at what both carriers provide in terms of opportunity, pay- and whatever else is important to you. I think you can find just as many negative opinions about either of these two carriers... that may or may not be justified.
Despite what some say about Prime, its a good carrier to work for.Mranderson Thanks this. -
"Good" is an extremely subjective term. And as you say, one needs to look at what is important to them when judging a company. For example, while one driver could say, "I don't have a problem with cameras on me 24-7" another driver could say, "Uh-uh, no way, that's a deal-breaker for me."

From what I have seen and heard they have been pretty equal, except on this thread. I guess I will have to just jump in and go for it either way, I want to get started so I can get the first year out of my way. Again i really appreciate the input

I think I will probably spend some more time trying to narrow down the negatives of each company and see which are the least negative for me.
