Had a funny moment at one of the little scales along US-95 in Oregon the other day. When I pulled up to the scale I got a red light and the DOT guy comes out to talk to me. In the mean time several other trucks had lined up and are watching my encounter. He was asking for change since his safe did not unlock and he sells quite a few permits. Obviously nobody knows what is being said, but next thing I hand over cash and are good to go. I told him that that looked really bad for us and he started laughing too.
Made it back to WA and got a little home time in before going back to the truck for tomorrow mornings appointment. It is raining like crazy and downtown Tacoma had some flooding going on. Several cars had driven into some deeper spots and petered out. Should be some good sleeping weather since it has cooled off and with the rain hitting the sleeper.

Well, I cleaned out my truck yesterday and settled up my last trip this morning. I guess I will find out if this was a wise choice or if the new opportunity will be a disaster. I could come back if I would have to as well. I did not burn any bridges and Pacific Coast just bought another brand new Volvo and Utility reefer trailer. The bookkeeper said she will keep my cc and keys in her drawer for me since she thinks I will be back. Thanks for the competence in my future.

I guess I will take the Volvo out of my signature next.Lady K Thanks this. -

55 degrees. and overcast. 85 and sunny back home.

For now nowhere fast. I talked to my future company today and my truck should show up tomorrow afternoon. They are giving me a long nose 379. I know most of you would be drooling over the truck, but I feel like I am stepping back in the 19th century compared to the Volvo. Those things come with a shifter that is not attached to the seat. I will be going from the Volvo I-Shift to the "I" shift. I will check in Wednesday morning and see how it all will work out.
I was super excited to make the jump and on the other hand I feel like I am making the wrong move. I have to try it or it will drive me crazy. My new lane will be WA, BC, YT and AK, but they run the lower 48 as well.
I will keep you guys posted on my new adventure.

Always wanted to make the drive to AK but I am not sure I would want to start as winter approaches. Best of luck with the new gig.vikingswen Thanks this.

vikingswen, sounds like it could be a sweet gig. Think your doing the right thing in at least, giving it a shot. Ought to be interesting, if nothing else. Who knows, the ice road could be calling you next!!! lol
If anybody is going to be in Mt Vernon, Il, will be here till Friday morning. Doing a rest here. Thinking about looking for a company, with a slightly slower pace, like "only" 3k a week. lol Turning into an old man before my time here. hahahahahavikingswen Thanks this. -
I went and got my new ride today. It is a 387 Peterbilt not a 379. That works for me. I took it home and did some good cleaning and loaded it up. I will do the rest of my orientation tomorrow, get the truck serviced, annual inspection done and a couple of little things fixed. Looks like I will be heading North on Sunday. The funny thing is I am more worried about the paperwork for the border than anything else. I met a father and son team that run back and forth to Alaska and got some info on coops and YT permits and so on.
