I'm in a 2013 and my OnGuard has engaged the brakes when the cruise is completely turned off. It's happened twice, both times were on multilane surface streets where it picked up a vehicle making a turn and I left some nice skid marks behind me.

I think it has to do with how the system is wired when it's installed. Just like some of the Casscaidas "always on" outlets are in the front while others have it inside the cubby area and still others on the bunk HVAC panel.

As for buying a new truck without OnGuard (or similar) it's going to start being tough. The data indicates a severe reduction in rear end accidents, hard braking, etc so I would suspect that those who opt for a new truck without it will end up paying higher insurance.

And the federal gov is already in testing stage to make it mandatory. There shooting for 2015-2016 to start on all new trucks. Some cars are already getting this feature also. And not high dollar luxury ones but like Chevy impala has it as a option.

Its been the same kind of situations with mine, although 2 of them have been at highway speeds when being passed - its like when it picks something up that it wasn't previously tracking, it can't decide what to do, so it panics and hits the brakes HARD.

My worry is that this kind of thing could just as easily happen on a slick road surface and cause a loss of control. I agree that it will probably be impossible to get a new truck without one. Hopefully a good used truck shows up in their inventory anyway.

Oh and that's cheating, the Prime truck is probably going so slow it didn't even see it moving LOL

    Anyway....

Made my delivery to a Walmart store up in Council Bluffs, IA. Checked the preassignments, ~1000 mile run back to NC!!! Nice! Grabbed an empty from Menards about 30 miles away. Still headed east, about 100 miles from my pickup on a 30m break at a rest stop now.

I wanted to make the Indy OC tonight, but that'll be pushing it too hard.

Found something cool, check out the new crossroads page, if you go to Truckload and then to the Work Assignments tab, you can view your work assignments and any preassignments. Looks like they also have a mobile version of the page for using on your phone, I haven't tried it yet. Neat idea especially for those drivers coming off of their home time, if they aren't near their truck they can check online to see if they have an assignment out of home without having to sit in the truck and babysit the Qualcomm.

All this thing does is provides another entity for people to sue in an accident. Now attorneys will sue the driver, carrier, OnGuard, brake manufacturer, tire manufacturer, bumper manufacturer, etc etc. Putting in another device that can and will cause accidents.

if it is on but not engaged it is active
be a grownup don't use cruise at all

It was pretty darn handy for me last night. Checked it before going to bed (I was at home 30 min from the yard) and saw that my load wasn't going to be ready until 10:00. Instead of getting to the DTC at 06:00 I was able to sleep in, roll up at 9:15, stow my gear, pretrip, and make pick up at 10. Is it perfect? No (I'd really like to have seen what they set my NAT as) but it's a step in the right direction.
