lesson learned this morning

It's easier to shove all that crap on the dash. This way you only have to look once to find that week old unwrapped doughnut.

Um , am i the only one thinking this.....

12 packs of anything should be stored in side cabinates, or under buck, not in between seats. Nothing should move around cab while driving. If you want soda while driving, put a couple in the cup holders where they are secure. What if your brakes failed and you needed to make that downshift? What if a can rolled under the brake peddle. This is a stupid mistake that could have killed someone. You should not have anything loose anywhere near the shifter peddles or steering.

Public hanging or at least a lengthy cattle-prod treatment for this offense, perhaps?

I agree with AZS, he learned a valuable lesson from his mistake.
I think the OP now has an idea what could happen if the brake pedal got obstructed.
BTW, if in a daycab, there are no cabinets or storage area. Just floorboard and pass seat.
Bottom line, just make sure all your in-cab items are secured in such a way as to prevent any movement, causing obstructions to the pedals, shifter, steering wheel, or Sirius radio control knobs.

 

isn't there supposed to be a safety pin from keep the fire ext from going off.

i could swear my last one had it. but the one i got now don't.

 

There is... but the one in the extinguisher style most every has doesn't like to get bumped around, comes out fairly easy.

 

Also watch what you keep on the dash.

Several years ago, I had an old Freightliner FLD day cab. I had a clipboard on the dash. While making a turn, the clipboard slid off the dash into the steering wheel, and got stuck between the dash, and the wheel spokes. Wheel was turned, I couldn't turn it back!

Scary second or 3, until I wrenched the clipboard out of there. Almost went off the street over the curb, and maybe caused real damage.
