    Hey everyone,

I found the site via Google and it looks to be a goldmine with questions and answers so thank you all for contributing and posting. Anyway, I'm new to the site and looking at possibly getting a CDL possibly. I live in the Tampa FL area and currently in the US Air Force, and stationed at Macdill AFB and I have been in for almost six years. In a couple of years my enlistment is up and I want to do something different - military has been an awesome experience but I have a lot of reasons for doing something different. My job has nothing do do with trucking but I am interested in finding out more and maybe I will get a CDL one day, if my interest doesn't go anywhere, well at least I took the time to research.

Anyway, more accurately what drew my interest is that I live in the Riverview area and on my way to work I notice a lot of trucking businesses and trucks driving around and I would like to know more. I did some quick searches and saw there's a few people from FL and the Tampa area so that is reassuring.

Hope to read and post some more.

Lots of trucking jobs along the I-4 corridor. When I pulled refrigerated trailers, pulled many loads of orange juice and some other products out of the Auburndale area and produce out of the Everglades. Trucking can be a good career with good pay if you plan ahead for jobs with the better companies. Study the "CDL Practice Tests" at top of this page. Get all the endorsements, mainly tanker & hazmat, plus TWIC. Canada runs require a passport. A hard working tanker/hazmat driver can make over $60K per year; some make much more.

Pulling refrigerated OTR I was making avg. $50K (some do better)
Switched to tanker/hazmat OTR and jumped to avg. $65K.
