Flat rates have been bad this year. Im going back to dry van. I hate it, but its steady. Just spent $15k on my engine so I need to stay steady. Reefer produce switches this time of year to Indio,Ca, Yuma,Az and Nogales. But its a lot of trucks trying to load out. Wait times can b insane waiting for the Mecican trucks bringing in the produce.

    MrPlow Thanks this.

Yeah guess that would explain why we keep getting bumped off loads with "oh the rate confirmation didn't go through cause our faxed got jammed" or "oh that's an A in your email i heard a Z and email it there" and then my partner already booked that or shipper is not shipping it now etc etc etc... unfortunately we haven't ran much to be regulars yet so gotta deal with this sh**t

yeah that's what my initial thought was but kinda assumed that it would gradually dry up not go from $2.5/mile to no loads at all in one day. Yeah Great lakes still look good, just need to make our way there from northeast without loosing my shirt. And been to Florida, those $3.5 a mile goes out the window fast when you gotta deadhead to atlanta to get anything worth while.

we were getting desperate so were looking for anything as far as LA from Salinas going to east coast. But didn't quiet get to Mexico will check it out thnx

But for my future references does the season in Cali (Salinas Fresno etc...) usually ends (and starts?) abruptly like price drops $1k in one day, or gradually like the prices just slowly go down every week?

Yes , produce rates out of areas of CALI is just like the stockmarket , starts to fluctuate near the end of that current grow cycle / season and then drops in a heartbeat.

Thats why at times there is a over abundance of available trucks near the end ( hoping on getting the last of the BIG $ LOADS ) and that drops the rayes even lower.

It's not just reefer son, it's the cali-way.. also van and tank haulers are affected by this scrutiny of supply and demand. Biggest reason to blame sorry ##z drivers hauling cheap

I also got a pre-emission truck, so now
Watch what I'll be telling those morons behind the phone when they call me to offer me loads after the 1st of jan!

It's not just reefer son:biggrin_25520: The OP was / had been asking about reefer work

Watch what I'll be telling those morons behind the phone :biggrin_2555: Likely the same as 2/3rds on here supposedly tell them now ?
