How does a person log a stop if it starts at 12:15 and ends at 12:19?

Well I have a stop like that daily that is 15 to get to and 30 to the next. my company requires me to log the stop with 15 minutes. If your company does not require it you may be able to get away with just flagging that you were at that location at 12:15. Hopefully later someone more log smart like LOGSRUS will be on and can give you a for sure answer.

If you are a local driver then all that is required by DOT is that you show what time you arrived to work and what time you left work so you could log it all on-duty not driving.

If you are an OTR driver then I would tell my drivers to log it as 15 minutes
However the book says anything less than 15 minutes can be flagged but you must put the amount of time it took you. So in your situation you would put 4 minutes. This is tricky situations though, I always say try to log the 15 minutes of driving or # least don't be driving passed the 11,14 or 70 hour when flagging these situations.

Again I am saying this is a tricky question so please talk with your log department and see what they say, however I told you how I handle it just to be on the safe side :)

Working local, as I did for 10 years for a major LTL company, here is how we were instructed. First, we punched a time card, so basically we did not have to log unless we worked 12 or more hours in a day. If we worked 12 or more hours in a day, then as my run consisted of some 200 miles, less than 50 miles from the terminal and with about 20 stops, we showed about 4 hours on duty not driving and then showed 5 hours driving and then dropped down to the bottom line again and showed 3 hours on duty not driving again. In other words, we did not try to show every little stop, we grouped all our driving together . And this was with the largest non-union freight company in the nation.

If you're under 12 ur ok if ur over then let me explain if i can. u do ur pretrip then log time 2 jamestown and u have 3 stops there then log all of them as jamestown unloading. U must note 'about' how long u in that town.I understand that if your towns are more than 15 mins driving time then you must log the town if the next town is 10 mins away then you can still consider that as on duty not driving.. i hope i better explained it...

You wouldn't have to log 15 minutes but you would have to flag it as a stop, the way I understand the rule anyway.
Maybe just flag it and in your description put "unload - 4 min." or something like that so they know why you didn't log 15 minutes on it.

If you're only there 4 minutes I wouldn't even bother logging that. It's not noteworthy.
