What do you mean the only way a company can train is to have governed trucks and be self-insured? There are multiple companies that train that aren't self-insured and not governing the trucks has nothing to do with training. Not even sure how you made such a connection.

Secondly, what does governing a truck have to do with running freight to Canada? Again, how do you even draw a remote connection between governing a truck and running in Canada?

Lastly, since when does Prime (or any other mega carrier) offer raises for saving a sixteenth (or any other measurement you wish to insert) of a gallon of gas per mile? And before you mention fuel incentives and bonuses (which aren't even close to being a "raise"), such incentives and bonuses are already built in and calculated and once factored in is what the drivers should be getting ANYWAY. Fuel bonuses and incentives should be above and beyond that.

This one I can answer: Canada's speed limit for CMVs is 65mph. All CMVs are supposed to be speed limited to that speed.

No riot here! Just the usual nonsense spewed by the "f you ain't runnin' the speedlimit you should be banned from the roads crowd." They can't be bothered to be professional drivers... just crybabies.

Can't disagree or express an opinion differing from your beliefs without calling names? Geez! Both sides of this argument have valid points but riddle me this. Did you -ever- try passing a truck governed at 64 and you at 65? It takes forever to pass and builds up traffic behind you. This CREATES problems, danger and issues that can be avoided. You shouldn't be banned from the roads but you darn well should be banned from the hammer lane without question.

All the time when I need the speed... nothing like the jerks who won't back off a notch. A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER would. Just as a PROFESSIONAL DRIVER recognizes that even slower vehicles have a right to the use of the leftmost lane to pass when traffic conditions allow it. The problems are created by low experience drivers who cannot adequately control their vehicles, use excessive speed for prevailing conditions, and let their egos get out of control.

Just because someone has the right to do something doesn't always make it ... right. I have the right to insult you but -choose- not to. I have the right to call you names but -choose- not to. There are many things where a person is -permitted- to do something but it doesn't make it right. What makes one a PROFESSIONAL driver in your eyes isn't the litmus test for others regardless of what you may believe. I'll be darned if I will allow another -driver- to dictate what constitutes a PROFESSIONAL to me. We all have our standards and they are not the same.

The irony here is I don't believe you're seeing the forest for the trees. You're speaking of those slower vehicles who have the -right- to use the hammer lane .... it's no different than that person who -chooses- to pass your slow-moving vehicle at legal speed limit.

While egos get out of control, this is far from being limited to "low experience" drivers. In fact, I see many drivers (some on this forum included) invoking the elitism card whereas by virtue of claiming to have more years of experience than the person with whom they disagree, falsely believe it elevates them in status over those with less experience and to that of "super trucker" status whether they want to admit or not. Actions and the way one carries themselves speak much louder than mere words.

And the facts and data hasn't changed throughout the years. Excessive speed (too fast for conditions) is the primary cause of accidents when the trucker is at fault. If you're claiming excessive speed and out of control egos are mutually inclusive, that's another topic completely.

Canada's speed limit for CMVs is 65mph Not totally correct it is only ONTARIO and QUEBEC that are enforcing the speedlimiter not the entire country , and the speedlimit on the highways enforced is 100 KPH / 62 MPH.

Not exactly true as I am a company driver and my truck is set at 62 on the pedal and 65 on cruise and I drive a lightweight.

Those are settings for a lease operator... .my advice to is to stay away from the Springfield shop, and get your service through SLC or Pittston. If they catch that mistake you'll be turned down. SLC and Pittston are less likely to look at your ECM settings.
