It does close on a rare occasion...big accident up on the mountain, when they need all officers on the road. Otherwise, unless budget with the State has it tight on hours...they are 24/7/365!
Probably too late for this advice...but shut it down in Sparks, (T/A or Petro) and get fresh for the run over the hill! No parking in the Truckee area until you get to Donner summit at the rest area. then after that is the Shell Station with some truck parking at Nyack (half way to Sac from Reno). Once in Sac, you have the Sacramento 49'r truck stop, now Pilot managed/leased.
CHAINING...are you ready?

What about parking at Gold Run?....
I have seen a wide spot on the N/B side just above Auburn IIRC....Is that cool to park there or not? -
Now THAT is some sad news. . .
Have they totally ruined it yet? (Not that it was all that great anyhow. . .)

It shouldn't take them too long. It took about 90 days to run the Bosselman's locations into the ground.Arkansas Frost Thanks this.

Well, there certainly are things that make me glad I'm not driving anymore. At least OTR. . .

Thanks for the great advice guys..Im shut down @ the Petro in sparks gonna splash some fuel on in the am and looking @ getting unloaded in Alameda around 0600 tomorrow

Truck Stops aren't about drivers anymore.....Hence the reason why they're now called "Travel Centers"....
Btw am I the only one that notices that the diesel at the RV islands is cheaper than the diesel at the Truck islands at these "Travel Centers"? -
It's been Pilot for a few years. Restaurant is still there, its only really branded Pilot.
-
Some states have a different tax rate for automotive/RV diesel. Bend over, driver!

Since 80 runs East/West, I will assume you are asking about East bound from Auburn! From Auburn, you have the rest area before Gold Run, then a small Exon station with very limited truck parking at Crystal Springs...there are a couple wide construction cut outs after the Exon, and trucks are parked there quite a bit. As long as your "tail feathers" aren't close to the fog line...the mountain chippies seem to be OK with truckers getting their needed/required rest. Now when the weather turns sour....all bets are off!Big Don, Working Class Patriot and MackDaddyMark Thank this.
