Orignally I was going to post this on new driver post, but since I see countless of complaint on most trucking company., Here I will land my post. AS u all know, most giant company out there will and can replace us without a blink of an eye.. The fact is, they open their door for business is to make a profits, period! That the fact folk. Let set this aside. What most new driver or even older driver usually forget one thing, Which is plant ahead. We sign up for OTR driver and we don't even put aside some fund in case of emergency or something goes bad. Even if the hand written to promise to get u back home, I think I still save some money just in case they don't do as promise. ( As I all way think, big co. may care but one bad terminal manager will ruin u.( who know, they maybe they bad as a whole but, again we fail to plant ahead). A few things for sure , when we sign on to who ever u drive for, try to keep your liscence clean , accept all load(even if it late either from them or u ) but kept in mind that u let them know profeesionally, pick up/dlvry on time is the most importance thing to all company. That how they grow. If u already in the industry after a yrs in the business, u may want to get all your endorsement and twic card, it will open more option for u. U may not even need it at the moment but it will be handy especially if u looking for local position(think they cost almost the same price at dmv). For most carier, I think clean dmv record is also the most importance when apply at any co., Have we ever pay attention, most driving position when we apply for. they all way ask us first is to bring dmv print out. Dac maybe importance, but dmv would out weight most that due to insurance when they hiring us on. As I said, there a seat for every ###, one may not fit for this company the other will . It all depend what is your comfort zone in life r. I used to work for this company and they only drive team, I hate it that and the pay r horrific. But I still have co driver at that company still drive for them as of today, even if I try to get them to go to a better paying job, most week end off he still he would not do it. Oh by the way, forgive me my wrong grammer and if I wrong about the industry. If u have time at truck stop and have nothing to do read some motivating book on how to be succeed in life and planning It not necessary have to do with trucking but it will get u into awhole new level of thinking. If u plant u ahead 1/4 of people that does not.
